Less Tedious Quests 1.0.0

Ever feel like the Tarkov quests are an absolute kick in the nuts for no reason? Have you wanted an easier play-through? Well, I have the answer for you!

Less Tedious Quests

Requires Virtual's Custom Quest Loader to be installed beforehand.

Only works with SPT-AKI 3.4.0 or higher.

I'm unable to maintain these mods. Rockahorse has kindly taken up the maintenance of VCQL but VCQ and LTQ won't be maintained. You can post issues or request help; other users may help you. Thank you all for the support during the development of them. All links will remain.

Overview

In this Mod I have gone through each quest and edited the aspects of them which I think are completely unnecessary or too excessive. This mod is great for new or casual players. All changes are listed below.

This mod only contains the locales for English. This means that the modified quests will still work however the display of them may be incorrect. If you would like to upload a locale for another language all you need to do is copy the locale of your choice and edit all the things I have changed.

These quests only change the wording of quests and their conditions to complete them. I have not altered rewards.

Please give me feedback on any more that you would like to see edited or if any bugs / mishaps arise within the quests.

Installation

Download and install VCQL

Unzip the downloaded folder into your SPT-AKI folder. Ensure that the downloaded 'user' folder is extracted directly into YOUR user folder.

Edited Quests

  • Hi,

I like what this mod does, but would like to retain the "Found in Raid" condition. In the .json I found the variable "findinRaid": true. Do I have to put this to false in order to get the condition back or is there something else I have to do?

    Cheers

    • I just found the "onlyFoundInRaid": false variable. I think thats the one so I changed that to true.

  • Does this work on 3.5?

    • It may appear to work but since BSG redid some quest paths it may break alot more in your game. So I would advise not to use this version until its updated.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Could you look into this error message I get on 3.4.1?

    "Less Tedious Quests\src\mod.js:54:27

    at FSReqCallback.oncomplete (node:fs:188:23)

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'length')"

    Thanks a lot.

    • There shouldn't be a folder in your installation at all called 'Less Tedious Quests' and so shouldn't show any error for it. You extract the jsons that are in LTQ to their corresponding folders in VCQL, same with Goblin King. I'd double check your install.

Download VCQL and extract it to the mods folder
Download LTQ and move the 'user' folder to your SPT directory where there is also a 'user' (it automatically falls into the correct folder)

      Thinking 1
    • I did as you said (so no renaming of the folder).

      I still get it:
      "\SPTARKOV\user\mods\Virtual's Custom Quest Loader\src\mod.js:54:27

      at FSReqCallback.oncomplete (node:fs:188:23)

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'length')

TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'length')"

      Please do help me out.

    • 80% Sure this is an install error and don't know how to help you. Sorry. You don't get those errors unless you did something wrong and I have provided the install instructions. Alternatively please ensure you are actually downloading the correct version of both mods aswell.

      Crying 1
    • I wish someone could help me out because I have successfully installed 20-25 other mods which do not have such error messages.

Only Virtual's Custom Quest Loader does this weird error?

Unfortunately I can't run Virtual's Custom Quests, Less Tedious Quests and Goblin King due to this...

  • edit: nvm im dumb lol, i completely missed the part where it says you need the quest loader installed beforehand. Makes sense now, my bad

Sorry but I'm confused about your installation instructions - you say to extract the user folder into our original user folder, so my filepath should be [spt root]>user>user>mods>virtual's custom quest loader>...? Am i understanding this right? This seems weird to me but there's no package.json so i guess it doesn't work like other mods... idk, i'm not very computer literate as you can probably tell ?(

  • Are you certain this won't work for 3.3?

    • Very. The locales are a completely different format and I have only formatted them for 3.4.0. However I can probably do a newer set of locales for 3.3.0 if this is something you'd like.

    • That's okay I'll be upgrading once my modlist is all 3.4 compatible... almost there. like 5 more to go out of 20 are still not 3.4 compatible from 3.3

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Thank you so much for making this!

  • Definitely having this next wipe.
