RevivalMod for SPT adds a second-chance mechanic to Escape from Tarkov, allowing players to enter a critical state instead of dying instantly. Use a defibrillator to revive yourself and continue your raid with temporary buffs and restrictions.

[STILL IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT]

RevivalMod adds a practical second-chance system to Escape from Tarkov, giving you an opportunity to recover from what would normally be a raid-ending injury. In its early development stages, this mod introduces a critical state system that activates when you would typically die, offering you a moment to potentially turn your fate around.

The core of RevivalMod is built around balanced gameplay that rewards preparation. When fatally wounded, you'll enter a vulnerable critical state where AI enemies have difficulty detecting you, but your movement is significantly restricted. If you've planned ahead and brought a defibrillator, pressing F5 will initiate revival, granting you partial health recovery and a brief period of invulnerability.

To maintain game balance, RevivalMod includes several thoughtful limitations:

  • A 3-minute cooldown between revival attempts
  • Severe movement restrictions during critical state
  • Modest healing upon revival (just enough to continue)
  • Recovery limitations including forced crouch position and firing restrictions

The mod integrates smoothly with the game's economy, making defibrillators available through Therapist with pricing you can adjust in the configuration.

Though still in development, RevivalMod features helpful visual cues for critical and invulnerable states, clear notifications, and customizable settings to fit your preferred gameplay style.

How to Use

Getting Started:

  1. Install the Mod - Drop the folders in the ZIP into your SPT mods directory and restart your server and launcher
  2. Acquire Your Lifeline - Purchase a defibrillator from Therapist (automatically added to her inventory). This is adaptable in the config file located at user/mods/revival-mod/config.json
  3. Enter the Raid - Make sure the defibrillator is in your inventory before deploying

When Disaster Strikes:

  1. Critical State Activation - Instead of instant death, you'll enter a critical state
  2. Revival Process - Press F5 to use your defibrillator while in critical state
  3. Recovery Phase - After revival, you'll experience temporary invulnerability but with movement and combat restrictions
  4. Back in Action - Once the recovery period ends, you're fully back in the fight—but be careful, as you'll need to wait for the cooldown to use the system again

Pro Tips:

  • Use your critical state wisely—enemies may not see you, giving you a chance to position strategically
  • The post-revival invulnerability period is perfect for reaching cover or extracting if badly wounded
  • This would be absolutely amazing with a fika-specific set of options.

if you can make it so you can disable reviving yourself, and make it so you can revive others, it would transform your teammate dying from a reset, to a fight for your life and ensure a safe space so you can provide aid and revive your teammate. would be so sick!

  • For anyone who wants to put the Defibrilator into a Special slot, if you are using SVM put this into your Filter IIC.

  • This is what I've needed for so long, i play fika duos and as soon as my teammate dies its just leave the raid. If this becomes fika compatible could you put an option in that lets someone use a defib on you or you can only use the defib if someone is within range? might be hard to code but would be an immersive and game changing option to have.

  • I have a question, would it be possible for myself to make it for the version 3.10? Since most of the mods I use aren't yet updated I'd try to find a way to use it

    • Yes, you can make it 3.10 by going to user/mods/revival-mod/package.json and setting sptVersion to 3.10

    • Excellent, this was the answer I was looking for! Thank you!

    • did this end up working?

    • I don't think it works properly on 3.10. I tested in on one run and the AI seemed to be affected as well resulting in immortal pmcs and scavs.

    • Indeed, I tested it and I got the exact same results as you mentioned; I believe it's not really adapted since it's made for a newer version

  • wow! amazing!

  • Would be great with config options, because this mod can both enhance the gameplay and still keep Tarkov hardcore. Like:

    -No invulnerability on revival.

-No sneak bonuses during critical state

-Most importantly, ability to enter critical state should just be a small chance, not a guarantee. And ofc when you get folded to headshot or thorax wound, you get sent back to stash 100%. Tarkov is a numbers game after all, everything is random, so why not.
-And to make it really shine with Fika, an option so only another player can use the defib on a downed friend.
Anyway, that's just some suggestions which hardcore audience I think would like to see. In any case, great work. Always glad to see mods that enhance the gameplay.

    • Modifiable would be best.
      - A second timer for how long invul lasts.
      - Chance of getting the sneak bonus
      - Headshot definitely 100% should kill you, with other body parts allowing the use of the defib however it make the defib a consumable and not insurable because of the value of it. Maybe even limit it to special slot.

      P.s. A really sick idea.

      Happy 1
    • I definitely agree with the “headshot sends you straight back to stash” config. I’d like this to have the slight customization you mentioned.

    • Headshot Darkness mod combined with this is awesome. Also Fika has an on option in F12 to instantly load you out of raid after death. SPT might have an option in the config as well.

      Thumbs Up 1
    • @RodHertz yeah, headshot darkness is awesome.

  • Wow. What a great idea :)

  • one of those "I didn't think about that for tarkov of all games"

but it sure does sound nifty, specially for the sake of
"It's single player, who cares, ur game" which is really cool any way that goes!

haven't tried the mod yet (about to now) and some config things that would be nice as extra options if you may.

    - toggle adding defib to therapist

player self balance, what's the price of cheating death hm?

good for gating such an ability for later when you'd normally get it.

    -special slot?
I know there were some mods that let you add items to such filters. Having an easier built in way for that would be convenient for the special slot gang. (that is me)

    -head eyes?

you take a slug to the skull and you mean to tell me that you can swan song yourself back up with a medic bag??? this sounds like it'd be hard to do but it'd still remind the player that they are still mortal.

Sorry for the barrage I just really like the idea yet I always crave some sort of """balance"""

    • Love the suggestions! I'm adding these on the backlog!

It is indeed a very early build of the mod and configuration is the next thing I'm going to add.

    • Def love this mod and the config ideas. I also wonder if it is possible to make the defib consume on use.

    • I was thinking about that but forgor to put it in as I was debugging red text

    • It should work, atleast for me it consumes it. If it does not work, definitely let me know!

      Thumbs Up 1
    • just tried it, kinda jank but I see what it's doing, it does get consumed so that's fair enough, to bad I tested it in a mine field. Curious how SAIN and bot ai mods will handle the downed player

  • Fika compatable? or work in progress?

    Heart 1
    • Second that! This would be the most groundbreaking feature to hit FIKA in a minute!

    • Work in progress indeed. You can always check the roadmap right here.

The roadmap is a WIP as well though ;)

  • now this is a thoughtful mod, I def never thought of something like this being implemented
