Coyote Trader 1.0.4

Please do not ask when mod authors will update their mods to v3.8.3. Bothering mod authors will lead to warnings and repeat offenses will lead to eventual bans.

Coyote is a new task focused trader that adds 68 new quests for you to complete.

Currently there is a bug where if you do not complete Skier's first quest "Burning Rubber" before reaching level 21, Coyote will be permanently locked due to the next quest being locked behind Burning Rubber. If you fail Burning Rubber the next quest will not be unlocked. In theory this should only affect players who use the Easy Start options (unless ur slow ;-;). This will be addressed in the next update eta ~6/25/24 (June 25). I cant not change it now as I am away for the weekend. If you want to get around this you can use profile editor to complete Burning Rubber. Thank you for patience.

What is Coyote?


Inspired by the HEAT (1995) film, he is a trader primarily focused on giving tasks for the map Ground Zero and Labs. He currently has 68 fully functional quests.



Why Ground Zero?


There seems to be a criminal lack of tasks for GZ. Ground Zero is my favorite map because it’s the most urban map with the best performance, simple to learn and fun to play. Since writing this I also added some Labs quests because I started running labs like crazy and it’s been fun so YEAH.



What does he sell? Any new custom items?


Currently there is a small selection of items that he sells. (See item stock below) There are no plans to implement new items into the game at this moment.

I tried adding weapons into the shop but was running into problems. (skill issue) They might appear in a future update. If anyone wants to take a look at the code and help me out that would be sick.


Level 4 is supposed to be a serious grind only accessed by the most dedicated questers.



How do I install?


After installing VCQL (see link above), using 7zip, drag and drop the “user” folder from CoyoteTrader zip into your SPT directory.






Known bugs/issues:


Players who do not complete Skier's quest "Burning Rubber" before reaching level 21 will be soft locked out from unlocking Coyote.


Crimson Vintages bot kill zone can be made slightly larger. Currently only enemies inside the winery count towards kills. Bots like to sit just outside of it.


Quests where you use a MS2000 Marker use the LeaveItemAtLocation condition instead of PlaceBeacon. Not a problem just a footnote.


Besides the above... None at the moment. Please let me know in the comments if something is not working as intended. I have tested this mod with most other major mods besides realism.



Realism compatibility?


I do not play with realism and this mod has not been tested with it. I have no idea if it works with it or not and have no intention of adding compatibility patches for it without some help. (It should work but I always see comments about realism changing prices so the prices may not be balanced.)

Trying to figure out the weapons store.


Better/more balanced rewards.


Improving localization.


Taking a break from racking my brain in VSCode.

  • Maybe it's just a skill issue but I've gone through the Nakatani building twice, and extracted out of it twice, but I'm still unable to complete the first mission (elusive criminal); what exactly am I looking for with regards to the hideout?

  • Can't download due to detecting a virus not sure what's going on but I'm not wanting to try.

  • are you able to add an assort file so that trader's inventory is customizable ?

    • I do get an error message from Realism in the server - but I have the trader module of realism disabled so I have not noticed any gameplay bugs from it

    • Complete "Burning Rubber" for Skier and you'll get a task from him called something Criminal, that's the task that unlocks him

  • Mod works with Realism. Havent beaten the quests or anything but the first task did work to unlock Coyote. Will Report back once Ive hit a bug or Complete all the tasks.


    Please keep this updated. Nice to have a trader that isnt OP and quests are cool and make sense with the Tarkov world.

    • How did you manage to get the first quest to unlock coyote?

    • To unlock Coyote, you have to complete a vanilla quest from Skier on Ground Zero called "Burning Rubber". You need to take the GZ V-Ex, and Skier gives you the 5k roubles you need

    • Might have jumped the gun for Realism. The first quest where you go to Nakataki Tower, I went there all the way downstairs, all around the building in the elevators, behind the desk in the lobby etc. everwhere. And no task triggered, extracted and says it stills needs to be completed.

    • UPDATE UPDATE Working with Realism again I think lol Apparently I missed the quest trigger location by 1 pixel in the Nakatani building. Might need to make that bigger

  • Hello and thank you for taking the time to add a lovely new trader with quests - especially ones in areas that are largely missing quests.
    I'll get the request in now before the first patch comes around:
    When you next publish an update to the mod, would you be so kind as to update the file structure so that instead of being "CoyoteTrader1.0.4.zip>CoyoteTrader1.0.4>user"
    It's just "CoyoteTrader1.X.zip>user"?
    It makes clean installs and mass-updates to remote servers a lot easier when all of the zips unpack directly into their appropriate SPT directories instead of having to extract them one layer down.
    It only saves like 2-3 clicks per mod, but when you're installing like 80+ mods for your friends, it adds up fast for every mod that doesn't do it.

  • How do I get the starting quest from skier?

    • when you downloaded did you open the initial CoyoteTrader 1.0.4 folder? You need to move the contents inside the CoyoteTrader1.0.4/user/mods/Coyote Trader AND the Virtual Custom Quest Loader folder into your folder, should get the first quest to prompt at Skier

  • Yooo this new trader HUGE!
    I love it, and i love how u use maps which dont have alot of maps. i will definitly give it a shot and maybe add it to our server aswell.

    Some things i would love to see would be:
    General trader price multiplier
    Considering to balance it for a vanilla playthrough and not give out tooo much stuff.
    Other than that it looks awesome!

  • So lemme get this straight. He sells shit in Dollars so nice for hardcore players, and has quests to do. but other than that - nothing new or anything crazy - correct?

    • Correct, nothing that hasnt been done before. Mostly more quests for people who need extrinsic motivation to play GZ. Fat XP and challenges... I tried to make everything as balanced as possible... no cheap boxes or game breaking barters.

      Things at LL4 are discounted but good luck getting there.
