Open The Damn Context Menu - Open the Context Menu While Searching 1.0.2

Please do not ask when mod authors will update their mods to 3.10
Bothering mod authors will lead to warnings and repeat offenses will lead to eventual bans.

Finally you can open the context menu while you search containers.

Want to reload, unload mags, or inspect while searching? While now you can!


Very simple mod that allows for you to use the context menu normally while searching.

I have not experienced any busy hands issues during my playing and testing. But if you do, and think it could be related to the context menu please let me know. :)


Install:

  • Extract to the BepInEx\Plugins folder
  • If updating from v1.0.0 please delete the old dll before updating.
  • Make sure to use the correct version for your instance



I don't play EFT anymore but wanted to keep this updated. I've done some testing but lmk if there are problems!


This is my first mod so please let me know of any bugs / issues / incompatibilities.

    - Updated file structure to work with automated mod install tools. Please let me know if there are issues.
    - Please delete previous dll before updating from 1.0.0 as I have renamed some files to better match other modders' practices.
    - I have not run into issues with the busy hands bug but if you have and think it could be related to this mod please let me know.

  • ive wondered this: how do you update a mod, how long does it take?

    • For a very small mod like this it doesn't take a lot of time. I'm changing one method to enable the context menu. When an update happens I check the new code to see if the update changed anything that would break it. When a big change to the code base happens it could take days - months to port everything over for big mods.

    This really makes me wonder why this feature is included in the game at all. I always found it annoying but never stopped to think "why can't I?" Still can't figure it out.

    • Some have said the poorly written BSG code causes problems when it tries to do too many things at once, the "Busy Hands" bug. So I guess they disabled it to prevent this.

      I personally haven't run into it but some say there may be a chance this happens if you try to do too much at once. :S

  • This is still my most favourite mod. You don't have to stop searching corpses, you don't have to stop doing anything else. You can just simply use the context menu to do what you need in-raid without restrictions. Man you are a life saver. I hope this gets updated in the future, because without this I would be sitting 20 mins at one place waiting for search to finish so I can open up a context menu.

  • great! you could always double click the gun and reload through the button that way so it always seemed pointless for this feature

  • i can't use the mod. The error says the package.json is missing. Version 1.0.1 btw

    • Are you trying to install it as a server mod in your user\mods folder? It needs to be installed in BepInEx\plugins like a client mod.

    • Oh, my bad. I saw the folder with the mod's name and tought i had to install directly in the mods folder

  • Oh, geez. I always assumed there was a reason for this - something in BSG's code that would break. 10/10 quality of life right here.

  • The only suggestion I have for this mod is to please package the mod in a BepinEx/Plugins folder when you publish it.
    Some apps like the AKI Mods Installer don't route the files to the right place when they're not pre-placed in a folder structure.
