smthing-Configurable Steps Volume 1.1.4

Please do not ask when mod authors will update their mods to 3.10 or if they can upload older versions of their mods.
Bothering mod authors will lead to warnings and repeat offenses will lead to eventual bans.

Lower the volume of your footsteps for you only, bots still hear you normally.

Please refer to original mod for description and how to install it. I simply updated it to work on 3.9.X.

- CLICK ME-Configurable Steps Volume by smthing

I streamlined the installation process. Simply drag the user folder into your main Spt Directory and enjoy a world of silence.

If smthing wants it removed. It will be removed without warning.

If you wanna edit the volume percentage, go to SPT\user\mods\SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.1 and open the config.json. Change 45 to whatever you prefer. Making it 100 is complete silence. I would go to more than 60.

  • Version 1.1.4

    - someone messed something up. I wont point any fingers or anything ^^

    - the last one only breaks on new empty profiles. existing users wont notice anything.

    - download this anyways to make sure future support is for an update version.

  • Version 1.1.3

Messed up on the file name. You need to go into your user/mods and remove the the 1.1.3 version and re-download this. Sorry. The Google Drive link has been replaced, but those affected, do what this says. Just re-download the latest version.

    - fixed a skill check. thanks to Trap for that one

  • Version 1.1.2

    - the previous error has been fixed. I added Dazzuh's suggestion into it.

  • Version 1.1.1

  • Community still misses this for 3.10

    • I'm in so deep with other things at the moment. Pretty much just moved and currently tied up in a repainting. I will get to it eventually unless someone else does. Say January 2025.

  • Thanks for the update, no need to remove it. But please do a PR at https://github.com/unai-ndz/SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume so the source is tracked

    • It was needed - the community missed it. Absolutely, I just have to figure out how to use Github. My knowledge sadly don't extend farther than like Gdrive, Mediafire etc when it comes to file sharing.

    • It's nice to come back after some updates and find someone bothered to update one of your mods tbh.

I will add your changes to github eventually if you can't find the time, no worries.

  • I wonder if there is a way to reduce pmc gear gingling too. And weapon sound, med useage, weapon switching ect. Its all so loud.

    • I'm the original author of the mod, afaik it's not possible, at least as easily as this mod.

EDIT: Maybe doing something like: Quieter Faceshield Breathing

      Heart 1
  • I also get the same error as helsingdvtz:
SPT 3.9.8 with mod 1.1.4 (no other mods loaded)

Edit: Could be a ME issue (still testing) - has something to do with profiles
Edit2: So this error message appears when there is a profile that is not fully configured (i.e. choose language, face and faction)

  • I love you

    • Oh my.. Making me blush over here. I love you!

  • Is it possible to lower the foliage volume when walking through them? Some of these bushes are louder than a gunshot

    Thumbs Up 1
    • Probably. I personally have no clue how. But I can ask around and perhaps implement that into this one. I do suggest that you avoid running into bushes. Not very realistic for a "Escape from Tarkov is a hardcore and realistic online first-person action RPG/Simulator with MMO features and a story-driven walkthrough." 8o

  • So if I install this without wiping my profile, will it have any effect?

    • You can install this just fine. But know that if you ever remove it, your profile will permanently have XX value set for sound.

If you uninstall, you must edit the config.json from XX value to 0, start the game, enter raid, leave game and remove mod.

Edit: No reason to remove it. This will silence your footsteps for you ONLY. Other bots hear you fine.

  • watch out for duplicated folders if u just drag the new version "SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.3" remember to delete the old folder "SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.1"

    Thumbs Up 1
    • Yeah, glad I caught that as fast as I did. I found out when I was to move the update into my personal folder and didn't ask to be replaced.

      Thumbs Up 1
    • Okay now I'm getting confused. All the new updates (1.1.3, 1.1.4) have the mod installed to a server directory name of \user\mods\SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.1. Are we supposed to rename these to SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.3 or SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.4 respectively? If I recall, most mods are released as \user\mods\MyAwesomeMod regardless of the version. Thanks in advance.

    • If you have a folder in user/mods that has 1.1.3, remove it. The recent version has been fixed.

    • Thanks. So even though mod version 1.1.4 [SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.4.zip] installs to \user\mods\SPT-ConfigurableStepsVolume-1.1.1 and package, json shows "version": "1.1.3", it is the correct latest 1.1.4 version?

    • The zip says 1.1.4, and the server window says 1.1.3. The folder in USER/MODS should say 1.1.1.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Ale-freaking-lujah !!

    • Does it keep happening or was it an isolated error?

    • keep happening no matter I change the load order don't know why

    • Is it a server thing only or is the audio broken in game?

    • I didn't start the game when I saw RED thing lol

    • Oh, what. It starts fine for me with no red text. Do you have an older version of his mod installed?

  • dude i was literally complaining about this today mid raid holy shit

    Thumbs Up 1
    • And now you don't have to anymore. Have fun!

      Happy 1
