Featured Recoil Rework 1.3.0

Introduction

Tarkov's recoil feels kind of bland and weightless. This lightweight mod aims to make recoil punchier by tweaking some recoil values. While I am open to suggestions, this mod is ultimately shaped by my own preferences and is thus highly opinionated around what I would like Tarkov's recoil to look and feel like.


I encourage you to play around with various settings to see what suits you.

Known Issues

  • There's a rare bug where weapon recoil gets multiplied for seemingly no reason. I could replicate it by reloading my weapon and shooting without aiming down sights but there seem to be other causes. Setting the Recoil Angle Intensity config values to 1.0 seemed to make the issue go away at first glance. Let me know if this still happens with 1.3.0

  • Anyone else occasionally get crazy-high recoil for no (discernable) reason?


    I had to remove this from my mod list because, regardless of the weapon i had equipped, recoil would sometimes max out. I thought it might be based on arm stamina at first, but no. Then I thought it might be based on arm health, but it happened when I was at full health.


    EDIT: Nevermind, read the last line of the description. I look forward to it being patched, this rework feels a lot better than vanilla imo!

    • the description was outdated, i think its caused by recoil angle intensity values being improperly applied. try setting recoil angle intensity values for both pistols and rifles to 1.0 and see how it goes.


      also, your modlist would be greatly appreciated :)

    • Reinstalled and left default configs as-is. Unable to recreate so far, but I'll leave it installed and let you know if I see it again. I don't remember changing the configs in my initial install, but *shrug*

  • Подскажите пожалуйста как тут убрать эффект попадания в тебя пуль? Ты только прицелился, если в тебя попадают( а рейдеры они всегда попадают) то просто не можешь выстрелить потому что тебя шатает из стороны в сторону из за их попадания по тебе.

    I would like to know, could you make the weapon SWING when shooting in the aiming mode as if from the hip? I showed an example in the video, how it would look in theory.

    • tbh you really cant, the automatic pistols are a never-ending battle. for 1.1.0 i just got them to a state where theyre "playable".

  • Would it be possible to add more rotate percentage, because I was able to make a canted aim position but also felt like the percentage could be a bit more higher to rotate more, just a suggestion, I hope you continue working on this mod, it makes the game feel way better!

  • feels pretty nice, I've only played SMGs in the last few sessions but they feel very real and nice

  • What ive noticed is that the experimental Left/Right Stance Animation is pretty choppy, feels like its playing in 10fps... Other than that i am liking the pistols

    • The choppyness also occurs when i am sitting at over 80fps, so its basically all the time

    • it does look and feel really choppy when toggling stances while aiming down sights, not so much when not aiming. ill see if theres any improvements i can do

    • yes while i was doing a raid like an hour ago it occured to me that i shouldve specified that it looks choppy when in ADS rather then in general. but thats exactly what i mean

  • Hey i love this mod , its so good it actually makes it feel like a gun however i think it removes the head bobbing effect when walking and other things , just wanted to know iff they this is why and overrides it and iff it was possible to keep both, -- Head bobbing is in the game settings next to fov and i have it on highest because its immersive ,,

    • no. i do want to do something with the sway but likely not for the next update. probably after though

  • Hey, the recoil of AUG in the rear is very strange, the amplitude of the scope's up and down vibration is too large, looks like it's hitting my eyes :D

  • i started using pistols more and oh my fucking god the recoil feels just like IRL
    i actually shot a glock 17 gen4 in a shooting range like 2 weeks ago and the recoil on the pistols feels basically the same
    goated asf mod this is now mandatory for any SPT playthrough

    • I can legit not always notice its on which given i play lots game means 2 thing 1 im no quite used to tarkov recoil... and 2 your mod has to be feeling a minimum natural or i would see it as a problem. Thanks =)

    For anyone wondering, version 1.0 only changes 7 weapons. You can look for the IDs inside the server side component, the tweaked guns are these:


    - Steyr AUG A1 (Green original version, the black seems untouched)

    - Heckler & Koch 416A5
    - Colt M4A1

    - Desert Tech MDR 7.62x51 (The black .308 one, the 556 is untouched)

    - U.S. Ordnance M60E6 FDE

    - U.S. Ordnance M60E6 Black

    - U.S. Ordnance M60E4

    • for additional context:

      server side only exists due to some weapons having unplayable horizontal (forwards/backwards) recoil with the clientside changes. clientside changes apply to all weapons
