SAIN preset for Realism + TarkovIRL WHM + That's Lit.

This preset is for SPT 3.11.x and all the pertinent mods for that version (Realism, That's Lit, TarkovIRL-WHM, and SAIN obviously)

This mod follows the work of theFEARhunterZ's Really Real Bots, which was made specifically for Realism + TarkovIRL WHM + That's Lit. These are my changes to his base work, so foundational credit must go to him!

I've separated the my preset changes into five categories: 1) Detection, 2) Aim and aim time, 3) Cover, 4) Suppression, 5) Aggression.

  1. Detection has been overhauled in this preset. Generally, bots' ability to spot the player is much more dependent on movement and body part exposure. That means you are almost certain to be spotted if you're sprinting around like an Average Tarkov Enjoyer, whereas moving slowly behind concealment will decrease your chance of being seen. Bots can also spot you much further away, more than you're probably used to.
  2. PMC's and Scavs engage much differently in this preset! They present completely different kinds of threats. PMC's engage slowly and methodically: even if they have already spotted you, they take a relatively long time to aim before firing; but after they've started to engage, they do so with high accuracy and a tight grouping. Scavs are the opposite: as soon as they see you, they will generally starting firing immediately with inaccurate and ineffective fire. They are more of a threat in close and in groups.
  3. Bots generally make much better use of cover. They will head to cover more quickly and fight from cover more consistently.
  4. Scavs are much more susceptible to suppressing fire than PMC's; PMC's are able to hold their ground under fire depending on their level.
  5. Contrary to typical Tarkov logic, I have set the Scavs to be generally more aggressive than PMC's. PMC's are like you, they have things to do and they're not trying to get killed. Scavs on the other hand a drug-addicted bandits, inhabiting Tarkov after every sane person has fled, probably years ago.
  • Version 1.2.0

    Total overhaul, read new description.

  • Version 1.1

Tried to address criticisms from v1.0:

    • Slightly buffed bot accuracy / reduce target acquisition time
    • Buffed accuracy specifically against moving targets
    • Slightly buffed bot aggression
    • Reduced bot propensity to remain too long in cover

Thanks to all who gave feedback, keep it coming!

  • Version 1.0.0

  • What if I don't use that's lit ? is the preset gna be to hard or easy ?

    • Well, I am still understanding how much ThatsLit is working or not working. My preset rewards slow movement and concealment, so -- you tell me if that is hard or easy. Why don't you just try it and find out.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • That's Lit hasn't been updated since 1993

    • find it on discord fika mods channel

    • Did already, they're unstable forks for 3.11, not recommended even by FIKA people.

  • There will always be one thing missing (well... two) and it's realistic reload :( for bots. They reload reaaaaall fast.
Also they never get out of ammo, but... well, yes, it's perhaps even bigger wish - to make an option for that. I notice bots have secure container in which there is a tooooon of ammo. If only there's a way to edit that container :)

  • Ported to 3.11 and did some adjustments for my Hardcore Roguelite playthrough. Works quite well so far :)

Scavs are pretty scary too though xD

    • Heck yeah!

    • what do you mean you ported it to 3.11? what settings did you have to adjust for?

    • All you really need to do is install this preset as you normally would. Then in the SAIN gui, just select this preset then "create new preset". SAIN then just copies all the settings into a fresh preset for the current version number

    • The adjustments I made were because this preset was created with Realism and IRL in mind. I just made the bots a bit more accurate since these mods aren't updated for 3.11 yet

    • ya i've got it installed was just curious what you changed, thanks!

  • my current issue with this preset is ill be at radar station shooting a scav at train station and they will turn and shoot at me, it's wild. they also seem to know where i am all the time. I love the rest of the behavior but they seem a little unrealistic in some characteristics.

    • Thank you for the feedback, I'll try to work on that. So to follow up, when they shoot back is the return fire immediately effective? Or do you get the feeling that the risk is very low that they'll actually hit you? Honestly it doesn't bother me that much they that return fire from the train station: in tarkov in general, I feel the engagement distances are artificially small just because of the game's game loops. In reality that distance well within effective range for mid calibers. So, again, that they engage you doesn't bother me much. Being scavs (ie crackheads), they should not engage too quickly or effectively at that range.

      Would love videos.

    • I wouldn't say the first shot is "effective," surprisingly close, yes, but not effective. I'll try to load the preset and get back to you. I also turned on icons on dynamic maps (trying to fix my bot spawning rate) and I noticed they were tracking me through walls at a distance. It was pretty wild; something isn't loving it. Oh, full disclaimer: I am using this with the 3.11 version of SAIN, even though I'm sure that doesn't matter.

Edit: I also can't get that's lit working. i've run the proper one and they didn't seem effected at all so i dropped it. in fact i think they were seeing through bushes easier.

    • The biggest factor that affects how quick a bot can track you is hearing distance. I'm no expert but the AI here seem to track based on a last known. Once a bot becomes aware of your position, it instantly locks onto you (regardless of obstacles). The vision speed values just determine how quick the bot goes from "seeing" you to shooting you. Best way to slow their detection speed down is to reduce how far out they can hear you.

  • I love it, it's far better than original. Tho i have a small problem , the bots seem to not hit you when you are moving, they can't just hit you. If you're standing still they have a preety good aim.

    • I noticed that too, they have pretty good aim when you stand still. And they barely hit you when you keep moving.

    • Great feedback guys. Just some clarification: can they not HIT you or do they not even shoot?

    • Like they shoot into the ceiling, wallls etc, but they can't seem to hit me at all.

  • Your last update of this was a bonus for tarkovirl handling mod, so my question is: is it much different? Ive already done some changes myself (to the previous iteration, I assume) and now I just try to judge what to do :)

I know it isnt easy question, but hell, wont hurt to ask your opinion.

Love the idea, and so far I like the preset

    • There are many apps used to compared two documents in-line, like WinMerge for example. Use one of those to compare the config files and see what exactly is different. Good luck

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Appreciate the credit. Might add a note on my preset's page pointing here :)

    • No, I appreciate YOU doing all of the actual work to port it over from 3.9! And adding to it.

      Heart 1
    • Glad it at least gave you some inspiration

  • Package file is missing. Will test the mod when its updated, thank you.

    • The mod should be put in your SAIN/presets folder.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • is this mod for 3.11.3 ?

    • No, 3.10. Realism is still on 3.10.

  • I don't see 1.0 on GitHub. I am probably missing something.

Never mind. I found the download raw button.

    Thumbs Up 1
  • Hell yeah, gonna try this now
