Hey! This is NOT A MOD. This is a ReShade preset, meaning this is compatible with all versions of SPT/EFT. Simply drag and drop the contents of the "sharpertarkovbetterlife" folder into your SPT folder so that "dxgi.dll" is in the same directory as "EscapeFromTarkov.exe"
If you wish to uninstall, simply delete the files that are added by this ReShade preset.
You do not need any mods such as Amand's Graphics to use this preset, HOWEVER it is highly recommended.
Tested with TAA High Anti-Aliasing, but it should work with most Anti-Aliasing.
I wouldn't recommend using any other methods of sharpening such as any present in EFT's Settings and so on.
No, this DOES NOT reduce performance significantly UNLESS you are GPU bottlenecked.
Press HOME to open the overlay menu.
This preset looks even better in-game, please try it rather than just staring at the images.

- Removed unnecessary header file. Doesn't really affect anything but figured its good practice.
- Removed effect toggle key. Add this in manually via the overlay menu.
- Changed overlay menu key to HOME.- Changed texture search path to proper directory. Doesn't really affect anything but figured its good practice.
Updating from 1.0.0? Drag and drop this update on your SPT install and then delete this file: SPT\reshade-shaders\Shaders\DrawText.fxh

jaxorsmthng Author
read the overview i spent hours writing and you will see it 😁
Nubi
oh im very sorry im dumb
tomcruise123
so are we supposed to use this with the in-game sharpness slider set to 0?
jaxorsmthng Author
dont HAVE to. it will still work, i just havent optimized it for use with other sharpening methods

Looks great! Still looks like the tarkov I know, but less muddy.

Does this make people easier to spot? I find in vanilla enemies often blend into things very easily, which wouldn't be much of an issue if enemies couldn't spot me immediately under the same conditions (and That's Lit is a performance hog sadly).
There's a clear difference in the comparison shots even though it's subtle, not sure why people are being weird about it. Overall I like the look of it, nice clear upgrade to vanilla visuals.
jaxorsmthng Author
i believe it makes things easier to see as there is more contrast overall, i suggest you test it yourself! 😁
Brain Chutney
Using this on my laptop and desktop now, I like that it's subtle and makes things sharper without blowing out the image. Just feels a bit clearer and doesn't drop any fps. I think people are being a bit overly harsh. The differences are observable in the before and after, just in very subtle ways in the small details.
Kippa
After trying this ReShade preset and looking at the new screenshots you shared, I can tell the minor difference with from before to after. If you know where to look at you can see the differences, but there are other options from other mods that use ReShade that I think do a better job, but other users may disagree.
I'm not saying this is a bad mod at all, in fact it's good to have variety with ReShade presets, but I just think this one isn't as appealing to use as other ReShade preset mods, in my opinion. Some people like subtleness, others like a moderate>major graphical overhaul. I'm slowly but surely heading towards more subtleness, less overbearing colours and darker contrast mainly because I'm getting old.
jaxorsmthng Author
you're absolutely right in the opinion that this barely changes anything, and that's the point.
this isn't a huge graphical overhaul or even a slight one, obviously i never intended it as such
i plan to make one more preset that incorporates this into it, whilst also trying to make the game just look prettier without it affecting gameplay, an eyesore to look at (as the point of this preset already is) and just not too over the top. after that, bloating the hub with reshade presets can be someone else's job, as i plan to start work on server-sided mods in the future
i simply didnt like how much the game was almost blurred in a way with TAA on, so i tinkered with stuff till it looked sharper, nicer and in my opinion better
thanks for your constructive criticism, i will try my best to improve with it.

This is great news, and any mods that alter the colours and sharpen the game up is something I would be eager to take a look at!.. I still haven't found "the one" for touching-up my SPT build and I'm too lazy to create my own preset using different Reshade filters lol.
I am in total agreement with you about TAA. TAA in Tarkov is as useful as another nipple on your chest. Not to mention the game with or without TAA just looks awful which sucks, but with this preset the game does look better and sharper for sure. Maybe I just need to tinker with the filters a little bit and see if I can get it to where I need it to be?... I think I might do that later.
jaxorsmthng Author
hey, if you can genuinely make it look better without making the UI look horrible feel free to send your settings here and ill look into it. i spent a good amount of time perfecting every single value, but you can probably do better than me
Kippa
Yeah of course bud. I'll be handing over my kids later this evening so I will have some free time then, and once I've had a chance to tinker I will share my settings with you.
With stuff like this it is personal preference. You may or may not like what I have changed but I would like some feedback, whether it's positive or negative it doesn't matter.
jaxorsmthng Author
wouldn't be asking for you to share later on if i didnt want to give feedback and just shit on it/praise it mindlessly 😅
looking forward to it, hope you have a good rest of the day
ACBear
0 difference.

"Can't upload uncompressed images, so I HIGHLY recommend playing with it in-game rather than staring at low quality, compressed images that barely represent the final product like an owl."
jaxorsmthng Author
added new comparisons, still doesnt show the effect as i want it to but its good enough
ACBear
Still little difference. One looks like it has FSR on performance (blurry) then the other is native res and HBAO on.
jaxorsmthng Author
exactly, they're both native resolution with just TAA on. it makes the game look less blurred, thats the entire point. not to mention ui elements look better overall, which you cant do with vanilla tarkov.
ACBear
I can achieve this without reshade.
