Realistic MREs 1.1.1 (AKI 3.7.X)

Please do not ask when mod authors will update their mods to 3.10 or if they can upload older versions of their mods.
Bothering mod authors will lead to warnings and repeat offenses will lead to eventual bans.

Makes MREs openable, like Halloween gift bags.

THIS (AND MY OTHER MODS) WILL NOT GET UPDATED ANYMORE ON ACCOUNT ME (JustNU) LEAVING THE SPT-AKI COMMUNITY

ALL OF MY MODS ARE UNLICENCE AKA PUBLIC DOMAIN, SO ANYONE WHO WISHES TO UPDATE/IMPROVE/TAKE OVER THE DEVELOPMENT IS FREE TO DO SO

I HAVE ALSO UPDATED SOURCE ENTRY FOR EVERY MOD OF MINE, IN CASE YOU WANT THE GITHUB REPOS

REQUIRES ENHANCED LOOT BAGS API

Features:

- Each MRE might have up to 7 items total, that are randomly selected.
- FIR MREs will produce FIR items, and vice versa.
- Adjusted item prices as MREs are more valuable now.
- Vanilla quests should work just fine.

Unfortunately, due to limitation, MREs cannot be opened in raid. Blame BSG.

  • Mod does not work for me, when i unpack nothing comes out. 3.7.0.

    • any server errors?

are you sure nothing unpacked? should on very top of your stash

    • Yeah, i sorted my stash to make sure there was no holes where it could land and then unpacked, nothing comes out of them.

    • again, any server errors?

    • Sorry for the late reply, no server errors.

    • mod list?

  • The gods have come and blessed us this day with a RealisticMRE's update, the best mod in the entire community /srs

  • Is there any way I can make it work back like the original AND with this new feature? I wanna be able to use them as a single food item in raid and unpack them in my inventory on the menu.

    • with the way bsg set up the item parents, most likely not

    • Damn that sucks would make the mod a while lot better for my needs if it was possible but that's okay.

  • Thank you for updating I always loved this mod

  • This and its API, enhanced lootbags , don't appear to be working after 3.5.7+

    • I just updated from 3.4.x to 3.5.8 today and am sad it doesn't work. I really love this mod, it's a must for me. Does this only work with 3.5.7 and below?

  • How would one go about making another item "unpackable"? Say I wanted to make it so toolkits can be unpacked in to an assortment of random tools?

    • Mods development channel on the discord would be a better place to ask this

  • I Love the thought of this mod! But, I couldn't help but wonder why we can unpack ammo in raid but not these rations. Looking into the src of this mod I find that the rations are in a subfolder under assets/weapons/...

Would it be possible to rework it into being treated like the ammo packs in raid? I'm not a modder under any stretch of imagination. Just wanted to bring up the question.

    • ammo packages and "gift bags" that I based this mod on are two separate things, making gifts openable would require client patching, doable but not something i want to fuck with

They're inside weapons folder because its technically a weapon, as this is the only way to make FPS animations for an item, every consumable in the game that have first person anims are in that folder (food, drinks, meds, stims, etc)

    • Ah okay, yeah I was just thinking maybe it was just a different way to do it. Thank you so much for the explanation as to why its under "weapons". Didn't know that. Appreciate the reply, and also your work!

  • This mod is ideal for use with ODT's Softcore economy tweaks. Fantastic pairing.

  • Am I the only one who can't eat MREs with this mod installed?

    • right click, unpack option

    • Yes, after I extract. In raid it's dead wieght though

    • thats just how bsg made the openable items, nothing i can do about it

  • WTF lol this maybe the funnest mod !good job !

  • Can anyone confirm is this works with useful food and drinks?

    • I just tried. It's not.

Soooo, sadly, it's one or the other.

  • I noticed that MREs can't be now put into the thermal bag forcing me to unpack them, apart from that it's a very nice addition to the game!

    • gotcha, will look into it

    • Awesome, thanks!

  • this mod makes so much sense, can't believe no one came up with it sooner
