Nerf Saiga 12 seems to have broken my profile, any cure?

  • Thank you all for the difficult and tedious job of making SP Tarkov, must be annoying to repeat work you've already done whenever a patch comes out.

It's been a sanity saver for me recently due to online Tarkov network issues.

    The problem:

Saw this in the known issues thread but no answer there for this particular issue though.

I bought the Nerf gun Saiga 12 from a trader, maybe Fence. Was the last thing I did before shutdown.

When I bought the Nerf it had one round in it (Poleva 6u?), I removed that and filled the chamber and 3 mags (one each of AP-20, 8.5mm, and fletchette).

The weapon is equipped on my PMC's primary slot.

Next day on starting the game it started throwing up an error dialogue about not being able to add ammo to an already full 20 round Saiga mag.

I tried deleting the offending item from my profile (using Notepad++).

Didn't work, and now the server spits out errors on startup about setting vitality.

After making backups I tried various things, think I managed to delete the 20 round mag that was in the gun, that let me start the game but after collecting anything from hideout or moving any item the game would freeze with the moved item blinking.

Also tried the 1.6 profile editor, wanted to just get rid of the gun completely, but the editor only listed a few things in my stash. Gun was not included.

At level 45 with maybe half the quests done so I really hope there's a solution!

I'm grateful for any help you can offer.

PS There was no option for uploading my profile, happy to do so if it'll help.

  • It looks to me like you are going about it the right way, the only solution is to edit the item out of your profile. It is possible that you made an error when deleting the data block, you must delete everything between the (and including) { ... }

Also make sure there are no other instances of the item in your profile. (ctr f , find all in document, in notepad++ should bring you up a nice little list.

  • OK so it should be just the mag itself 5cf8f3b0d7f00c00217872ef
For an example if i was to remove this MP5 from my profile i would delete everything between the red lines

Make sure there are no further instances in your profile too. :)

  • Ermagerd!

    Think it's resolved!

Haven't played a raid yet but I'm in my inventory, collected insurance and hideout stuff - all good so far.

Just after my last post I tried editing my profile again.

I found and deleted every reference to 53a4d16f55904fe56c9f57f1 which was the object it was complaining about in the original dialogue.

There were a lot of them, presumably for the mag itself and every round inside it. I'm sure your way is more elegant!

Tried it before but it broke my profile.

In case it helps anyone in the future here's what I think did it:

When deleting sections I was concerned that unexpected blank lines/whitespace might break the parser so when I got rid of a section and there was a blank line I tried to tidy it up.

Don't worry about that, just leave the empty lines etc.

Thought I'd have to revert back to a level 40 backup, not like starting from scratch but between 40 and 45 I bought a lot of containers and reorganised my stash.

Plus now I know about the profile editor so finishing the bugged gunsmith tasks should be a lot less hassle.

Thanks very much for the help, appreciated.
