First before anyone asks: yes I have all the ports forwarded, yes I'm running in administrator mode, and yes everything is up to date.
Problem: I'm trying to run a server on my Dedicated Server I have at home. I remote into the server using windows (Remote Desktop) RDP. My friends and I are able to connect to the server while I am actively using my server through the remote connection or if someone is connected to the server. If everyone disconnects from the server and I close my RDP the server seems to go into sleep mode after a few minutes.
What Happens
The server console/cmd prompt stays up but nothing prints out. No one can connect to the server
How I fix it:
It stays this way until I go into it and press a key on my keyboard.
When I do this all the connection attempts dump to the console and people can connect again
What I suspect seems to be happening:
The server seems to be going into some sort of sleep mode.
This only happens when no one is on the server and the server cmd window is not the active window
Why I think this:
The server console stops printing out anything until I press a key
The server log stops aswell and also became unreadable
I started and played on the server on 1/27. I have a 1/27 log. On 1/29 I came back and pressed enter on the server window and messages started going again and a 1/29 log was generated.
Why this doesn't make sense to me:
I have my server PC set to never go to sleep and it doesn't go to sleep at all but for some reason the SPT server becomes unresponsive until I "wake" it by typing into the console. This seems to be an SPT issue.
What I plan to try:
I plan to try increasing the priority of the SPT server.exe in Task Manager but I doubt this will do anything
TLDR: I think the SPT server is going to sleep when no one is on or when I'm not actively keeping the SPT.Server application awake by pressing enter on it every once in a while. Might be related to Remote Desktop but I need to get a new video cable to test the server with a dedicated monitor.
Notes: Server when people are online works perfectly. No issues there. Power settings on my dedicated server are set to never sleep and never lock. Never seen anything like this running other games servers such as Minecraft.
And yes I have made sure the Server PC doesn't go to sleep. I performed an experiment where I had the server running and had everyone leave the server. We sat for 3 minutes and then had them try to connect again. I watched the SPT Server console with out pressing any buttons and when they tried to connect no connection messages popped up and my friends could not connect. The second I pressed the enter key on the console all the connection messages showed up and everyone instantly could connect again
Any Ideas as to why this could be happening would be greatly appreciated
