Advanced Bot Culling 1.0.0

ABC adds a component that culls the rendering of bots that are outside of the default culling distance in EFT, helping older system to keep up.

What does this mod do?

ABC adds a component to every bot that checks if they are outside of the base game culling radius. If they are outside of the radius, it completely disables the rendering of their bodies. This is a feature that is implemented in live when playing online that BSG for some reason decided not to add in offline mode apart from animation culling until version 0.15. ABC is an attempt to replicate what is done on live in offline mode by using the same methods.

How much of a difference in performance can I expect?

On a modern system? Probably very little, if anything. This mod is not meant for high-end GPUs.

On an older system? You might see a minor performance increase when a lot of bots are alive.

This is not an "amazing wow fix" for Tarkov's performance issues, but it can make a difference on systems where the rendering is a bottleneck. I decided to implement it to see if it can help people with lower end PCs. This is designed to work with AI limiters.

Bug Reports

Please include your log file from %AppData%\..\LocalLow\Battlestate Games\EscapeFromTarkov\

  • Had a raid on woods today where bots weren't rendering until shot or very close, this has never before happened since getting this mod a week or so ago. It was on Fika and duo partner didn't have any issue in the same raid. Hasn't happened since either.

    • I don't recommend using this with Fika, wasn't designed to work with it and I didn't have any interest porting it due to 3.10 having this implemented natively. It also only works for the host due to the patched methods.

The issue is also a base game bug unfortunately that is very rare, especially prone to happen on Streets.

    • Ah ok will pull it out then, thanks for the quick reply.

  • when using the mod all the bots on the map just stand

    • This looks more like a mod conflict / something else.
My mod only affects the rendering of players, however is something went wrong during the initialization they would end up standing.

Follow the bug report guidelines if you want me to be able to help.

  • I'll see if I can test this mod today.

    My PC is a 10th generation Core i5 10400, with 32gb of Ram and a GTX1070 of 8Gb.

I've noticed that my performance problem comes from a bottleneck that is created in the CPU when there are many Bots on the map, mainly in the Factory where I configure the amount of AI to "Horde", the game does not know how to use all the processor threads, it only uses the physical processors (it only uses 6 threads of the 12 that the processor has), I've noticed that by deactivating the HT from the Bios there is an increase in performance since it uses more of the physical cores, but even so it never gets used in its entirety, but when the game starts to lose performance the GPU starts to make less use while the CPU uses more.

This Mod will probably help me a lot.

    EDIT:

What I've noticed with this mod is that it reduces the amount of bots on the map.

For example, normally when I play in the Factory I set the number of bots to "Horde", they never stop appearing, but when I use this mod there comes a time when the map is empty and I can't find anyone, that is, with this mod I can find an average of 40-50 bots in the Factory, while without this mod I can exceed 100.

I have noticed that it doesn't load the proper amount of bots on the maps because even if they are not rendered they should be loaded in RAM memory, and this doesn't happen, for example, in large maps I normally set the number of bots to high because I only have 32 Gb of RAM, and activating the "horde" mode causes the RAM memory to be insufficient (except in the Factory), and I have noticed that with this mod in use the RAM memory oscillates between 15-16Gb of memory, which suggests that it is not loading the proper amount of bots.

By having this mod active and configuring Horde it is as if the number of bots is set to high, just as activating high is as if it were medium.

  • my performance has never been so good, thanks

  • Some of us with good GPUs who use questing bots still have issues when too many bots are on-screen. I'll give this a shot, thanks.

  • <3

  • sorry if i ask but when i use this mod the ai works or is totally froze if is it culled?

    • They work when culled, their model is just not rendered anymore.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Lacyway is cooking pog

  • nice mod

  • Can you tell us if its compatible with Swag + donuts? Looting bots? Questing bots? Sain?

    • Should be compatible with all of them.
