Extremely lightweight mod that checks if a bot is friendly or hostile. The identification process takes a short amount of time, and takes longer if the bot is far away. Once a bot is identified, it will remain identified for roughly a minute; lose it for too long, and you'll have to re-identify.

Due to the jank of how Tarkov builds its levels, you might be able to identify bots though certain small structures, details, etc. that would theoretically block your LOS. This was preferable to the identifier not working in places with a perfectly clear LOS due to a horribly constructed LowPolyCollider.

Example video:

  • Version 1.1.0

A few significant changes in this version based off feedback. Please read carefully so as not to be confused:

1: Your character's Attention, Perception, and Search skills now affect the identification in various ways:

-Attention lowers the base time it takes for identification to be completed (0.7 - (Attention / 100), so a level 30 attention skill sets the base timer to 0.4 seconds)

-Perception lowers the distance penalty (bots that are far away take more time to identify, by default each meter adds roughly .015 seconds. A higher Perception skill lowers this factor)

-Search increases the max range of the identifier (100 + (Search *2), so at level 30 search the range is set to 160 meters)

-At max attention, identification within 15 meters is instantaneous.

-At max perception, the penalty for distance is halved on top of the level bonuses (Long distance is basically ignored at this point).

-At max search, the range is multiplied by 1.5 (making max range 304 meters at level 51, which is elite. Thank you BSG for making the level caps 51.)

2: To accompany these changes, the base ("level 0") times have generally been increased. Base time is now .7 seconds instead of .5, though distance is slightly less taxing. However...

2.1: Within 15 meters, identification time is halved

3: Refined the Raycast and Layermasking. While still not perfect, identification should generally be more reliable. (Currently as well as previously, the ray is based off the center of your screen. Due to how Tarkov simulates weapon movement, the exact middle of your sight is rarely the exact middle of your screen. Generally speaking, in my limited testing, this isn't that big of a deal... just know that if you can only see a tiny bit of an enemy or if you're being shot, identification will probably be difficult.)

4: Added a "Losing Target..." when the ray falls off a bot, to make it much more clear when you are or are not actually identifying a bot or not.

Please provide ideas or changes for the next update! This is a fun mod for me, I enjoy working on it :D

  • Version 1.0.0

  • Ooooh, now we're playing Trouble in Tarkov Town. I love it!

  • Wonderful update! Thank you.

  • amazing with "https://hub.sp-tarkov.com/files/file/989-friendly-pmc/#overview" nice work

  • Would it be possible to tie the target identification with the Attention or Perception skill to allow faster identification or increase the range at which you can identify a target?

    • Wonderful idea!

    • So I was thinking about this even more, this is perfect. Perception can increase distance, Attention can reduce time to identify. Maybe at elite levels, you have near-unlimited distance (perception) and instant identification at short range (attention)

    • Would tying it to those skills carry overy to your SCAV? Because being able to verify that your aiming at a scav rather than a USEC/BEAR would help maintain that all important Fence loyalty.

It definitely needs a bit of tweaking as it takes too long to identify a target even at distance, i've had running bots often not identified by the time they run out of sight completely. Just to verify does it reset the timer every time it stops saying "identifying" because often they run behind cover for a second and i lose contact before regaining it. Feels like it does, but i could be wrong. Thanks for your hard work with this. it is a lovely lovely mod that just needs a bit of tweaking to being exceptional.

    • Yes. If the "Identifying..." disappears, the timer resets. There is a 0.5 second grace period between falling off the target and that happening.

It might end up using your scav's skills, to be honest. Admittedly, identifying friendly vs enemy as scav is a lot easier than bear / usec.

  • This is a sweet mod. Pairing this with the Friendly PMCs mod is perfect. But I have to agree with @MyBPgotammo, it takes to long to identify... Getting shot in the face is a faster hostile identifier then waiting. idk what the answer is, maybe a F12 option to set the delay on identifying? jus tossin ideas.

Will keep an eye on this. Love your work on various mods. Thank you!

    • Mentioned it in my reply to BP just a second ago, but it was intentional that close-range identification wasn't instant. Sounds like I'll be changing it (or making it configurable at least)

  • круто!!! в теории теперь можно попробовать и на совместный выход бота найти? а как насчёт сканера на большом расстоянии, будет работать с оптикой и тепловизором?

    Thumbs Up 1
  • Does it work with the range finder or scopes from far away?

    Thinking 1
    • No, it's just a flat distance for now. I do like the ideas people are presenting, though. I will think about modifiers to the range

  • it helps me identify friendly bots from frendly pmc mod? often i attak my own horses!rawr! <3

    Thumbs Up 2
  • Idea isn't bad, the timing just needs to be adjusted IMO (based off the video preview) Right now it seems like it takes too long, would most likely be dead or already shot at before it identifies. At a close range like that it should be almost immediate or within a second. Med-long ranges would, in fact, take longer to "have to squint and look for camo patterns/ enemy identifiers/ etc." This mod is perfect for those pesky little traitor scavs. I like the creativity. Also, think it would be cool to have a toggle f12 voice option if your interested. Say, a % chance to mumble friendly or not say anything & 100% chance to say diff. voicelines for an enemy identity.

    • So, the identification was intended to be not instant at close ranges... the idea was that this will help at long-distance / edge cases where you can't otherwise make out the identity with clothing, armbands, etc. However, almost everyone I've seen seems to want near-instant identification at close range... so I will probably implement that.

    • Oh, gotcha. That makes sense I thought that's how it was normally. Well I guess an f12 option for close range can't hurt. People do like options now days, prob get you some more downloads too. I agree with you though I would only have mine on at longer ranges.

  • Such a cool mod

    Thumbs Up 1
  • cool mod does it work with fika ?

    • It probably will, though the identification will be seperate.
