Fershte's Balance Patch 3.7.0

Tired of sticking to precise meta builds? Want freedom to make a cool gun and have it perform well? This mod completely overhauls Tarkov's balance, for the better!

A wise man once said "If an M4 in a game is a bad weapon, then the GAME is wrong."

This mod adjusts basically every single category of part in an attempt to bring variety and flavor to weapon modding, improving almost every "non meta" part in the game, bringing everything closer together. The Meta builds are EXACTLY THE SAME as they used to be, but now there are more parts that are equal to those builds, and parts that were considered mediocre or bad are now more realistically good.

I really don't want to say too much more, so let me give you the bullet points:

Optics: Every single optic / sight in the entire game is now balanced to be equal to the best in that category, so for red dots there is no ergo penalty even for mounts, holo sights are equal to the Trijicon SRS, scopes are equal to the Vudu. Mounts don't have penalties anymore, and eyecups don't do anything to your ergo, so feel free to run your optics how you like them.

Pistol Grips: Every pistol grip in the game is balanced into 3 categories: 66% of meta, 83% of meta, and meta.

Furniture: All M4, HK, FAL, and AK handguards and certain pieces are rebalanced to be closer to meta, and give you more freedom of choice.

Stocks: All M4 compatible stocks are adjusted to be more sensible, allowing you to have more choices that fit your mission.

Muzzle Devices: Muzzle brakes are generally buffed, silencers are all brought closer to the Thunderbeast. Muzzle devices for .308, 7.62, and 5.45 can be really good. Try the KAC .308 suppy if you want huge ergo penalty but great recoil performance! Try the Silencerco Multicaliber if you want very small ergo penalty ! :)

and a few "tweaks" coming at a later date to make things a little more balanced.

If you aren't convinced, here are some comments from players who used my balance patches:

"I just think your mods are mandatory for the game"

"I love your mods, they are not just "excellent", they are necessary"

"These mods fix the problem of meta guns in tarkov, but the right way. Nothing in these mods is overly powerful compared to another item, each weapon mod has their own place in what they do and it makes them very viable. Thank you for doing this without making things overpowered or too easy. "

"very naice!"

"already using the [early versions of the mod] you made and wow, building aesthetic/fun weapons is awesome with them alone. this should make the experience even better"

Please, give this mod a try. I worked extremely hard on it, mostly for my own enjoyment, but, it has really, really made the gun building portion of the game so much more fun for me, and I know you'll love it. If there's any specific portion you would like to disable, all can be adjusted from the config file included in the mod.

  • Version 3.7.0

    Works with 3.7.X versions.

    I'll probably get back to this at some point, but I don't even know where to begin with changing stuff once we get over to 14.x content. The new recoil almost makes me think this mod can change priorities somewhat.

  • Version 3.5.2

    Just a simple bug fix. Bigger changes coming at some point.

  • Version 3.5.1

    I'm back nerds. Gonna update new stuff, balance stuff, we gaming, gamers.

  • Version 3.5.0

    Hi gamers I got it working for the current version isn't that neat?

    I might start playing Tarkov again and update the mod to include the new guns but now that I own a ton of IRL guns it's hard to care about a game this unrealistic and frustrating lol.

  • Version 3.3.0

    >updated to work on 3.3.0

  • Version 3.2.5

    >updated to work on 3.2.5

    >mod is in a 'maintainance phase' until I get a real zust for tarky again.

    >will continue to update as new versions release, no new content for a while though.

  • Version 3.2.4

    Updated for 3.2.4

  • Version 3.2.3

    Sep 13, Ver 3.2.3

    >updated to work for 3.2.3

  • Version 3.2.2

    Aug 30, Ver 3.2.2

    >updated to work for 3.2.2

  • Version 3.2.1

    Aug 18, ver 3.2.1

    >updated to work for 3.2.1.

  • Hi would love to have an update on this :o

  • @Fontaine will this mod Conflict with your recoil overhaul?

  • Hoping to have this back, sucks when my character can barely hold his rifle up because of 0.7 kg suppressor.

    Happy 1
  • miss this mod...

    • Can confirm it works on 3.8.0. will show incompatible on the server log but cause the package shows 3.7.x, If you dont want that showing, just change it to 3.8.0 or 3.8.x.

      Thumbs Up 4
    • Please don't advise people to do this. When it's ultimately incompatible with another mod or there's some other issue with their install that is most likely caused by this, it will waste a ton of support staff's time. This happens far too often for y'all to be doing this.

  • Excuse me, but where are the installation instructions?

  • do you know of any incompatibilities with realism ? Thx a lot !

    • Realism completely overhauls and rebalances attachments, and adds many new mechanics related to weapon modding, it's not compatible. Out of curiosity why would you want to install this on top of Realism?

    • I was just bored and wanted to mod tf outta my game, but I understand it doesn't really make sense now ^^'

  • Can we hope to get some customisable and independent config files from the main? It's pain in the ass to update and then to replace default changes from own.

    • Just replace my mod file with yours , the only change to this was updating the Package.

    • Oh, okay

  • Love this mod, And love you for making it.

  • hope it gets updated

    • its working for me on 3.7.4 with no changes to code.

    • Huh, will have to try

  • I have successfully been playing in 3.7.2 using the updated code provided a few comments down by user SezaRoski

    Heart 1
  • Does this work with 3.7.1

    I can't play without this amazing mod

  • love this mod hope it gets updated for 3.7.1... thanks a bunch if it dose

  • feels wrong playing without it

  • Gosh must have mod

  • Is this mod gonna get updated for 3.7.0?

  • Temporary fix for 3.6.1?!!!

    Let me know if it did work for you:

    Copy and replace these lines in the: user\mods\FershteBalancePatch\src\mod.js

    Copy and replace these lines in the: user\mods\FershteBalancePatch\src\mod.ts

    Both mod.ts and mod.js

    it is better to delete the user\cache folder too

    Check the ID first

  • Just curious, does this count as a server mod, and thus work with 3.6.0?

    • It does work with 3.6.0.

    • Fair. Did try it for myself and got no errors, so I guess I'll just keep playing and see xd

  • Thank you for such a amazing mod like this. It could be better if you managed to configruate factory stocks for FAL/74U though.

  • Does this mod conflict with the recoil and attachment changes from the SPT Realism mod? I'm planning on an ultra-modded playthrough and I would like to get an idea of what I may need to tweak in the settings and configs in order to retain the new recoil modelling from the Realism mod while also having the extremely diverse gun builds that this mod allows for. Thanks for making such an awesome contribution to this community!

  • Can you make it, so that the cqr foregrip can be attached to AK/AKM/FAL?

  • I had to comment out line 24 in mod.js to get it to work. It said that the _props was null for this item

    Code
                        //ELCAN Specter OS4x assault scope (OS4x)
                        //items["544a3f024bdc2d1d388b4568"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,
    Thumbs Up 1
    • Aaaa, nightmare. I figured out what caused it to do that of its own accord, and it should be fixed now. Bleh.

      Thumbs Up 1
  • Tested working in 3.5.7. Continue gaming as you were, gamers! <3

  • The best mod ever its necessary in my opinion for true single-player experience

    • I do try! <3

      Gonna work on improving stuff that has been added since the last major revision, and such, especially now that I have a lot of the parts from the game in real life and I can get a better idea how they perform lol.

  • Um… How can I bring my tweaks from old version to new one? Are there any changes in characteristics code?

    • Check the files you modified against the new ones with an online text comparison tool like this one

      Thumbs Up 1
  • so. what i do wrong? https://imgur.com/a/yWDLE8K

    • Having the same problem with all of Fershte's mod :(

    • same

    • in "FershteBalancePatch\src\mod.js", on line 24, it is referring to a scope that does not currently exist in the game. (this one). Which means it can't read the properties of it nor modify them. That's why it's crashing. If you just add two forward slashes to the beginning of that line, it will not read it and the mod should work just fine:

      Code
      //ELCAN Specter OS4x assault scope (OS4x)
      items["544a3f024bdc2d1d388b4568"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,

      Becomes

      Code
      //ELCAN Specter OS4x assault scope (OS4x)
      //items["544a3f024bdc2d1d388b4568"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,
      Thumbs Up 1 Heart 2
    • Thank you

  • does the new 3.5.6 version work on 3.5.5?

    • They all work on 3.5.X, so theoretically yes. No promises though, tested working on 3.5.6

  • Welcome back Fershte :)

    Thumbs Up 1
  • Help, how do I install this mod?

  • This mod seems to be broken in 3.5.5
    I'm on a fresh install. I run the server and it gets stuck at Balancing: Optics, where it gives a red text error "Cannot read Properties of undefined (reading '_props')"

    :(

    Crying 1
    • Yes, same issue here. Let's hope someone can update this mod.

    • Oh well, back to make meta guns bull$#!t till someone does.

    • I think there is an issue with one of the optics.

      I commented out line 24 in:

      <spt-aki-dir>\user\mods\FershteBalancePatch\src\mod.js

      Like this:

                     let modErgo = "-2"; //this matches the HAMR, a 4x with a red dot. This should be where all other assault scopes line up :)
                      //ELCAN SpecterDR 1x/4x Scope FDE
                      items["57aca93d2459771f2c7e26db"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,
                          //ELCAN Specter OS4x assault scope (OS4x)
                          //items["544a3f024bdc2d1d388b4568"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,
                          //SwampFox Trihawk Prism Scope 3x30 (Trihawk 3x30)
                          items["626bb8532c923541184624b4"]._props.Ergonomics = modErgo,

      And it fixed it.

      I assume the item ID for the elcan changed?

      Crying 1 Heart 3
    • IIRC, that Elcan was from an older version of the game, only originally obtainable via one specific PK task which was later changed 4 years ago, replacing it with the FDE Elcan.

      I guess its remained in the files all this time until now and I assume that BSG have only just removed it completely since I can't find it in items.json

    • oARiCApeRai  the line are already like that. The ones you mentioned are the problem. ;(

      I really hope this mods get's an update. It's sort of an essential mod.

      Alternatively, is there another mod that accomplishes similar results?

  • works fine for me in 3.5.3
