Headshot redirection mod fixed for 3.10 and 3.11 with extra options.

This is a fix and slight modification of the original HDR mod here:

  • Works for both 3.11 and 3.10
  • Squashed a bug that stopped it from working
  • Works with Fika
  • Added global damage reduction jojothinking
  • Version 1.5.1

    For 3.11 (maybe 3.10)

Fixed bug where redirected damage wasn't correctly apply leading to instant death.

  • Version 1.4.0

    For 3.10

  • How does this mod even work? I'm still dying instantly as the directions for setting it up are extremely unclear.

    • Takes headshot damage and spreads it out across body parts.

However you can still get one shot. Your head won't be damaged but multiple body parts can go black and you can still die.

If this is happening you can lower the damage damage to the head using sliders.

Maybe just check only limbs for damage redirection, that way your thorax an stomach won't instantly go black and you die

Enable the message logs as well and then check the bepin ex logs, you can see what damage is being applied.

I'm still play testing the mod myself.

    • Was a bug, try the new version!

      Heart 3
  • So with 3.11.3 and FIKA, It seems to work as expected for the host but for the other clients....I dont know how to describe it other than the damage is like, multiplied by the amount of limbs you selected it to be spread to and then the FULL damage is applied to each limb. So a 48 damage BP to the head, 50% damage redirection, Thorax and Stomach selected, should be 24 damage to head and I guess 12 to each Thorax/Stomach, but it comes out to like 80+ damage done to all 3 parts lol. (I had increased my PMC head health to 125 so I could still tank the shot and do the math).

Not expecting a fix, cause FIKA, but thought I'd share in case anyone else tries with FIKA or if anyone confirms its working just fine and I am doing something wrong I would love to hear it!

    • I tried it fika with dedicated client.

The mod installed on my client but not on the dedicated client.

That setup works, but I guess it doesn't work with additional clients maybe.

What does it say in the log file?

You can enable logging of actual damage calculations.

    • I pulled this out of the Bepinex Log :

[Info :ModulePatch] Headshot damage redirected to [ Stomach Chest ]

      Head (24) + Other (24) = Total (47.9)

[Info :ModulePatch] Headshot damage redirected to [ Stomach Chest ]

      Head (22.3) + Other (22.3) = Total (44.6)

[Info :ModulePatch] Headshot damage redirected to [ Chest Stomach ]

      Head (18.9) + Other (18.9) = Total (37.7)

[Info :ModulePatch] Headshot damage redirected to [ Stomach Chest ]

      Head (13.9) + Other (13.9) = Total (27.8)

I am not even sure this math makes sense to me, cause again a single BP round max should have been 47, then split up between the limbs, but even this damage shown in the log was not what was applied to my PMC. As I said I had modded my health, so I had a 185 HP thorax and 150 HP Stomach, and my stomach was blacked and my thorax down to like 47 HP, so thats why I say it seems like its taking the full bullet damage and then multiplying it and applying it to all the limbs.

    • Each line there refers to a separate recorded hit.

From the log, you got hit 4 times in the head.

It recorded 4 different damage values.

Whether or not the 4 different damage values are from 1 bullet being recorded 4 times, or it was 4 separate bullets I don't know.

I heard online that bots can apply critical hits to you, which causes x2 etc times damage. Maybe this is that?

I will investigate more and try to add some extra logging on the damage source, because maybe its also a bug!

    • Thank so much!

I know its not in the log but I can tell you I was off in a corner of woods by myself, with both clients (both PCs are in the same room so I can easily walk between them). I shot a single round from one client into the face of the other client. Im not trying to bait bots or something into head shots, I tried to make it as controlled as I could. I know the bullets can fragment and such, so perhaps that is getting picked up and applied extra? But then if I shoot the client that is hosting it works as I would expect it to consistently so it certainly seems like a secondary client thing and not bad luck, but I'll leave that up to the experts! :D

    • Thanks for testing it.

All the mod does is patch into ApplyDamageInfo, so its intercepting the damage tarkov is trying to apply to a player.

You can set the damage to zero to make yourself invincible.

The mod has not control of, and doesn't affect the generation of the damage (from what I understand).

But it does mean that you might have to set the damage offset really high if you are getting multiple head damage events from one bullet. =O

Maybe its bullet fragment? It seems legit because each incoming damage is different. If it was 4 damage events with the exact same damage value then it would be much more suspicious!

  • can this mod also disable getting shot in the throat?

    • Yes actually you could change this to redirect damage from any body part to another.

Just need to add it to code.

    • Yeah getting 1-tapped in the thorax by a scav from 60 meters seems to happen to me a lot too

  • Ur the goat! Gonna try this out now. :)

  • But i like being head/eye'd ;(
