It sucks for me too because I was doing a hardcore realism playthrough and now I've lost all of my progress. I just want to know if theres a way from preventing it from happening again
Did you install SPT in its own folder(i.e not in the original eft folders) as stated multiple times in multiple sources?

Yes i did, I had them separated in my drive. I feel that I should say as well that I used the automated installer
Maybe something on your computer tripped a windows system restore to a point before you installed spt.

i did triple checked just to be safe lol

There's no way it could be that, because
1- my computer was never off/updating during this time and
2- I imported a bunch of video files for work after installing spt, and those as well as my edit are still where they were on my PC
