Just to let you know that there are new versions of both Waypoints mod and also SWAG & Donuts that greatly improve the game performance.

The tips i gave you earlier are still worth doing as they will improve the overall SPT performance but these new mod versions will fix 3.8.0 specific issues that were happening. Mainly the bad stutters and FPS drops that were occurring when bots spawned in.

The new versions of these mods fixed my issues as well. I was not having low FPS issues as my normal FPS was still at my 140 FPS cap at 1440p. However whenever bots spawned in my FPS would drop to 60 and i would get stutters and complete pauses that could last for up to 2 seconds which made any fights unplayable.

So to anyone getting low or erratic FPS and stutters, upgrade to the newest versions of both Waypoints and SWAG & Donuts

You cannot just use your 3.7.6 profile with 3.8.0. It says so in the 3.8.0 documentation.

    Profile compatibility

    • None, you MUST make a new profile

What you need to do is make a fresh profile in 3.8.0 and then use profile editor to adjust your progress and skills to be similar to your old profile. You can also add items and money or whatever you want to make it feel similar.

Hi Maddog thanks for reacting to my thread, right now I'm using processLassoo to tune my CPU for better FPS but not long, and how to edit the SPT boot.config file for tuning the FPS and what should i tuning at that file thank you

I use the "only use physical cores" option turned on in game. Then i set process lasso for the Tarkov.exe to always disable SMT.

Then go to your EscapeFromTarkov_Data folder in your SPT 3.8.0 install. Open boot.config in notepad. Delete everything and copy and paste this text.

    gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1

    gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1

    gfx-disable-mt-rendering=1

    wait-for-native-debugger=0

    vr-enabled=0

    hdr-display-enabled=0

    gc-max-time-slice=10

    job-worker-count=7

    single-instance=

Save and hopefully you will get better FPS in game. I already adjusted the job worker count for your CPU. You have 8 physical cores so you want to set it to one less.

The other thing that can help a lot is going to graphics settings in windows and in the graphics performance preference part adding the tarkov.exe in your SPT 3.8.0 folder and setting it to run with high performance.

Additionally you can also download the latest DLSS update file from Techpowerup and replace the old file in your

    SPT 3.8.0\EscapeFromTarkov_Data\Plugins\x86_64 folder.

Normally DLSS in SPT does not increase FPS much but the newer versions of DLSS do seem to help a little more if you want to extract all the FPS you can get. You can always replace the original DLSS file from your Live EFT install if you need to if you are having any problems with it.

Hope this helps. Doing these things boosted my FPS significantly to the point that in 3.7.6 i was close to 120-140 FPS for the entire raid with lots of bots active. In 3.8.0 I am still getting stutters even though my FPS is close to 140 unfortunately.

I am at the stage now where i cannot even complete a single raid. I am on my way to extract after a decent raid and i get an instant CTD due to this memory leak. I have the RAM cleaner option ticked and go into the menu several times during the raid but it doesn't help. I got this error in my last raid but sometimes there is no error just my monitoring software shows all my 32GB was used up.

Unfortunately there is a widespread issue of low FPS with the 3.8.0 release. There is also major stuttering due to the way BSG changed bot spawns and/or path finding and there is a massive memory leak as well. Right now i cannot even complete a raid due to the memory leak and my game just quitting with a CTD when i get near an extract in the last 1/4 of a raid.

I managed to tweak some Windows settings and edit the SPT boot.config file to get more performance and I am able to hit my 140 FPS cap. I play at 1440p resolution. However the FPS dips by quite a lot and the game is very stuttery when bots spawn in. I can see swings of 135 to 65 FPS and complete pauses over 1 second long, even with my very good CPU. Some raids are basically unplayable the way it is now.

These were the same settings i used for 3.7.6 and that version ran flawlessly and was very smooth with the game staying close to my 140 FPS cap for basically the entire raid, except for the Streets map of course.

    For reference I have a 7800X3D, RTX 4070 Ti, 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, game runs off a NVMe drive.

These issue are affecting some players a lot more than others. This is something that the SPT devs are going to have to test and work out what is going on which will take time. Be patient and i am sure they will be able to fix it. In the meantime i think i will go back to my 3.7.6 install which thankfully i did not delete.

Also just to add further; after a lot of hours testing and trying different things with the FPS and AI spawning with mods and without mods, I've come to the conclusion that the intermittent performance drops or lagging is basically just a part of the 3.8.0 build and therefore not much can be done about it until a new AKI version is released. Multiple users have reported or mentioned in threads about it and it seems like a wide-spread thing and not a minority issue.

This does happen from time-to-time when the developers of SPT are overwhelmed with bug fixing, optimisations, testing etc.. but as long as we are patient enough and enjoy what we have right now the future will look more exciting for SPT. The work these guys do for the game is amazing and very under-appreciated I feel.

Yeah i agree. I have been testing the same things. I think not much can be done short term until the next release. I have played with CPU priority and the SPT boot.config file also to try to extract a bit more performance and it has helped and it is better, the FPS drops are not as severe now but still present.

Like you said 0.14 had its own issues on release so the SPT devs can only use what BSG have given them so to speak. Understandable that there may be underlying issues as that was what was in 0.14 at the time.

Not complaining in any way, just adding my experience so the issue can be made known and other players see it is a common thing and not something that they think they are alone experiencing. I am very appreciative of the monumental effort required to release these major updates like 3.8.0.

After some more testing as i did not want to comment before having more raids under my belt, it is definitely not as good or smooth as 3.7.6. Previous 3.7.6 was buttery smooth with high FPS for me. Hopefully it can be improved. Reinstalled it all and redid all my settings and double checked in case it was something i did wrong but it is still doing it.

It is ok but i'm getting small stutters where the FPS will dip significantly below my normal 120-140 FPS. Often from 135 to 60 FPS which is very jarring. On 3.7.6 i was getting consistent 110-140 FPS even with many bots and it would barely ever drop much below this except for streets map. With 3.8.0 it is very inconsistent but the small stutters are the worse issue as it makes aiming almost impossible at times.

I'm also seeing ridiculously high RAM usage with 3.8.0. Had my task manger say 97% of my 32GB RAM was being used on woods and customs. Never had anything crazy high like that on 3.7.6. Definitely some kind of memory leak as bots are being spawned in.

For reference my PC is a 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, RTX 4070 Ti and game running off a NVMe drive.

I have been getting the same but not on horde mode. Never have i seen on any previous version of SPT the memory usage going to 97% usage when playing on Woods or Customs. I also have 32GB of RAM. It just keeps steadily increasing as the raid goes on and more spawns are happening.

With your PC specs you should be getting more FPS than what you are getting. Must be a reason for this.

    For reference i have a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30, RTX 4070 Ti, Game running off a NVMe SSD.

Forgot to say i also use the program Process Lasso to force the game to run on only physical cores as i believe the in game setting was bugged to only work on the first raid. Not sure if this is still the case now. Made a big difference for me as well.

It is normal for the overall FPS to decrease as the raid goes on and more AI are spawned in. If you have nothing restricting bots from spawning all over the map your FPS will decrease and the game will feel much more laggy.

I would suggest the try the AI Limiter mod as it can greatly help with FPS and the game lagging. It will remove bots that get spawned in beyond the amount and distance you set in the F12 menu for the mod. They then get re enabled when you get into range of them. It has individual settings for every map so you can tweak it just how you want it. I set it to 10 bots within 450 for most of the maps except factory and labs which are much smaller. Even for me with a powerful PC it makes a huge difference to my overall FPS and the smoothness of the game.

This video below helped a lot for Windows and game tweaks for better performance. Setting the EscapeFromTarkov.exe in the SPT folder to run as high performance in the Windows graphics settings was the main one and made a huge difference for me, but all steps helped. The one thing i do not agree with in the video is changing your GPU in Nvidia control panel to "prefer maximum performance" as a global setting. This will cause your GPU to run at high clock speed and increased temperature even on the desktop. Set it to only do this for the tarkov.exe or like me do not change it as the game runs fine as is and i saw zero benefit from changing it. The game is CPU and RAM limited. GPU has minimal effect.

Since using this AI limiter mod and making these other performance tweaks in Windows and to the Tarkov boot.config file, I now get a constant 120+ FPS at 1440p with high settings on every map except Streets. Even with lots of bots active.

Have you pressed the 'Auto Sort' button at any point in time? If so, don't, it can throw items into the void.

Can confirm this as it has happened to me as well. Don't remember it ever happening on older SPT version like 3.2.4, but on newer version like 3.4.1 and 3.5.0 it has happened a few times so I never use the auto sort anymore.

It is normal but feels bad when bots don't spawn in so many places where they should. Other maps have this too where there are spawn zones but no bots will ever spawn there.

On 3.2.4 I fixed these locations on shoreline and the other maps so that they did all have spawns. Using Lua's spawn rework mod I added these missing spawn zones to the scav_map_openzones list as they were not present. I was able to get bot spawns at all the places you mention them not spawning.

I am playing on 3.3.0 now but have kept my 3.2.4 install so i can play shoreline and some other maps with fixed spawns in more locations across the map. Unfortunately until Lua's spawn rework is updated for 3.3.0 I do not know of how to do this. Maybe there is another way.

Download the mod called profile editor for your version. You can do it with a text editor directly with the profile json but having the nice GUI does make it much easier if you have not done it before. Also back up your profile before you play around with any values, especially if you are editing the file yourself, just in case.
