Are the 12.12 bots too strong, even on easy? Download this and enjoy the 12.11 AI strength against which one actually has a chance!

In the update from 12.11 to 12.12, the AI received a massive buff, making the bots really hard (at least in my opinion), killing all the fun.

This mod changes the AI control values to what they were in 12.11. so they're not as crazy.


The PMC difficulties can only be controlled through the config/config.json file. The pre-raid selection does somehow not work for the PMC difficulty.

    Fixed bot difficulty selection:

    In the config, it stated the difficulty settings are "Easy", "Medium", "Hard", "Impossible" and "AsOnline". This was wrong.

    The correct values are: "easy", "normal", "hard", "impossible" and "AsOnline".


    This update fixes the comment in the config and the handling of the setting in the server.

    Replaced bosstest.json (BEAR class) and test.json (USEC class) difficulty files with the files named bear.json and usec.json.

    In my tests, it seemed to work. No more total laserbeaming, not completely full auto to head/eyes, but bursting shots to the whole body.

    Updated to include core difficulty settings and the bot presets from global config.

    When updating, it's best to remove the old mod folder and install this version fresh (I changed the folder structure a little).

    Playtested on Factory and feels much better.

  • The difference is definitely noticeable, I eventually removed it and once again felt the difference, the bots were much better... but so was I.
    I got better at spotting and tracking, anticipating... and no longer need rebalanced bots. This mod was a really good way to train and get used to the game without dying all the time. Thanks!! <3

    Some of the funniest things the scavs AND pmc bots do:
    -Initiate a rant and middle finger animation when they see you... THEN start shooting.
    -Start healing while rushing you.
    -Throw a grenade and run directly into it.
    -Rush you while looking the opposite direction even though they saw you 1sec ago.
    -Run at you with their knife out even when like 10-15m away.
    -Re-peak the same doorway 15 times.
    -Get stuck in staircases and keep walking.
    -Shoot at each other through static hit boxes until they run out of ammo.

    I made it to level 9 and I feel like I'm being griefed by an organized clan that I apparently angered. I did not think one could get PTSD from AI.. how wrong I was xDD

  • unless I am missing it somewhere is there a reason why USEC are immediately hostile to me as USEC? I cant find a setting anywhere in the mod to change it

      If that value does not appear in your config, update to a more recent version ;)

  • not sure how this mod supposed to work, all bot values are pretty much same or exactly same as vanilla SPT-AKI, does it just force "easy" setting? if so - thats again pretty much nothing, considering there are no real difference between difficulty settings


    is there a way to actually make all bots (scavs/pmc/bosses) easier? i'm trying to tweak vanilla variables, changing them by x10 at once to make difference more apparent, but it literally does nothing so far

    • In older versions (of AKI for 12.12), the bot files were different. If they weren't I wouldn't have made this mod.


      I know nothing about the vars themselves, I just copied the 12.11 files, adapted the file names and implemented the data matching algorithm. Sorry.

  • I just tried the mod on the new 2.3.0 version of AKI.

    I'm not sure where the problem is, but the PMCs are again insanely OP.

    Maybe it has to do with the new bot file layout, I don't know.

    So, pending further updates, consider this defunct.


    Sorry. I currently really don't feel like playing Tarkov, let alone fixing this mod.


    I case you want to fiddle with the files yourself, be my guest: Just update the compatible-version setting in the package.json to say "2.3.0" or "2.3.*" and go nuts on the data files. If you don't know what I'm talking about here, don't try it.

  • Hi is there a way to change the in spawn rate of the bots, when I use "as online" i get flooded with bots and my framerate drops to 24 to 34 and its unplayable

    • sorry or how many bots in total can spawn in a match so that it can be balanced in a way not sure how to say

    • To my knowledge there's a limit if 30 AI entities.

      Try setting the bot amount to a lower value when starting the raid.

      Haven't had the problem you describe ever, maybe another mod?

    • There is a setting in one of the data files. Cannot say if it can be changed and is accepted, tho.

      Also, you shouldn't directly edit your database but rather use a mod to change the value so your database remains "vanilla" e.g. unmodified and most importantly, undamaged or destroyed ;)


      Maybe even give Ereshkigal's AllInOne mod a shot, I hear good things about it, maybe it can change that value for you. But be warned, it's big and powerful ;)

    • Not exactly, bots are more unpredictable.

      Yes you can change config.js, but it will change only PMC behaviour not scav, so i prefer use http://globals-bot-presets.json/ to level up all bots and not only PMC.

  • Yeah, I simply cannot get through that military area on lighthouse. I've been intakilled for the 5th time now by raiders.
    Anyone has a suggestion? Like, the first engineer mission on lighthouse is in that area, and I simply can't get in.
    I get laser'd by the millisecond the machine gun "spots" me. The precision is absurd.

    • How i wrote few days ago, overwrite your original globals-bot-presets.json file with this one globals-bot-presets.json and in config.js file ( in "YOUR Escape from tarkov SP\user\mods\basuro-backto1211\config" folder ) change : "difficulty": "AsOnline"

      Last very important thing to do, at the beginning of every Raid change AI difficulty to "easy".

      In this way bots are well balanced.

  • Yeah, was playing on Lighthouse and got laser'd so many times, especially by the raiders on the machineguns on the army area. It's plain stupid, you show your toe they destroy it in a second. Simply impossible.
    It's weird because I'm only having that problem in Lighthouse, it's almost like your mod doesn't work there.
    I don't understand.

    • Yeah bro, let me give you the real info here. If you don't miss the changes that come with 2.2.0
      do yourself a favor and stay on your version. The AI is just completely broken, no cap.
      Back in 2.1.0 it used to be SO MUCH better and ballanced. Now it's just a bunch of instakill laser aim bots planted on a single position. It's not broken, it's unplayable. At least on Lighthouse from what I'm experiencing that area full of MG's is straight up >>inaccessible<<.

    • Yup, tried even on easy and got headeyed instantly for the 7th time, trust me pal, stay on your version. If I would've known it would become this absolute trash, I would never have updated, consider yourself lucky.
      Don't trust what anyone says on configs, they just don't work.

    • Didn't find a how-to or tutorial to link, so here goes:


      Unzip the mod file to the mods folder that is located at <your spt folder>\user\mods.

      If you did it right, you'll see a folder appear in the mods folder. If you see files (especially package.js and package.json), you probably extracted the zip without keeping the internal folder structure.

  • Hello again,have a question. Does this mod affect pmcs only? I have noticed that pmcs are really easier to fight now. Looks like it's the scavs giving me a hard time. I was not aware about this yesterday.

    • This mod sets the botdifficulty setting in the AKI server bot config class. It affects - as far as I know - the PMCs.

      For the rest of characters (scavs, raiders, bosses, bodyguards, exusec (did i forget any?)) the in-game difficulty selection should apply.


      What's actually funny is that the new Tarkov version only requests normal difficulty and adjusts the AI according to the selected difficulty internally.

      For the PMCs however, the game requests all difficulties and selects one from those, according to the selection in the bot config. I guess. Not 100% sure tho.

    • Thank you very much, one question, after i changed difficulty inside config.js file ( ex. easy ), before to start a raid, i have to choose in the tab AI difficulty the same difficulty inside the config.js or config.js settings overrides it ? And "AI as online" is it the hardest level ?

    • I *think* so, yes. The difficulty you set in the config applies to the PMCs, the rest is set through the UI. Seems to be a quirk in the Tarkov engine since..

  • for anyone having errors when changing the difficuty, don't use a large letter at the start, but small one like "easy" and not "Easy"
