What is this?
This is an extension of a mod BetterSpawnsPlus by PreyToLive, which aims to improve bot spawns across all maps. While I love BSP, I found that many of its default spawns lack early PMC spawns, as well as general activity early in the raid.
So, I decided to create my own custom spawns with the goal of an actual "live" feel of a raid given certain circumstances:
- more PMC spawns in the first half of a raid
- more SCAV spawns in the middle to second of a raid
- more total spawns near POI (such as Dorms in Customs, Resort at Shoreline, etc.)
Overall, you WILL see significantly more PMCs in your raids and more frequent spawns in general, especially early on.
Bosses note: this mod does NOT change any boss spawns on its own, only PMC and SCAV spawns!
How Does it Work?
What I've done is manually change many of the default spawns, added some and removed some here and there. Most of the changes are spawn timings, but some changes include probabilities for bot groups, additional spawns (i.e. Raiders in Reserve, Labs) and generally moved PMC/SCAV spawns around to aim for something that felt more like live.
How to Install
Be sure you have BetterSpawnsPlus 1.0.7 installed!
- download the .zip from the above link
- copy all folders from custom-spawns-bsp-spt/locations/
- paste them into your SPT BSP MOD FOLDER: mods/PreyToLive-BetterSpawnsPlus/db/locations/
- play the game!
If you are using MOAR Config options for BetterSpawnsPlus -
You MUST install my custom spawns FIRST, then MOAR config options.
How to Uninstall
I've included all of BSP 1.0.7 default spawn configs in the code, so feel free to revert back to defaults at your leisure: custom-spawns-bsp-spt/defaults
FAQ
There are so many PMCs in my raids, I never see any SCAVs!
This is likely because:
- my spawns need more tweaking
- PMCs are killing SCAVs before you get to them
If a map is a bit overtuned (too many PMCs) feel free to use BSP's defaults in the meantime and please give me some feedback for improvements!
Can I change the in-game AI amount? Does it do anything?
I've tested this myself - it doesn't seem to have any effect on BSP spawns.
I like long raids (60 min+), will these spawns work for me?
Short answer - no. I've designed all of my configurations around 60 min. raid timers, max. (except for Factory and Labs, which are 45 min. each).
Long answer - try adding your own spawns and test it out! otherwise, if there is enough demand I may consider creating a separate set of configs for longer raids.

For anyone wondering -
I do not have any current plans of updating this mod nor working on any BSP presets in the future. This is mostly because BSP's latest update (for SPT 3.5.2+) has pretty much made my custom spawns obsolete (this is a good thing!) Instead, I'm currently using and working with SWAG and SWAG presets: Nooky's Custom Presets for SWAG
However, for those who wish to continue using BSP - please do! PreyToLive (BSP creator) has released a major update for SPT 3.5.2+ that introduces a massive number of configuration options and its own "live-like" presets that are pretty good!

Will this still work with BSPs newest version? Im not much into creating my own config and yours was amazing. Within 30 sec of raid start there was fighting everywhere. With the newest BSP its more like a slow burn over the course of the whole raid.

Does/can this mod make AI spawn outside of the normal spawn areas or is there a way to do so? For example, is there anyway to get AI to spawn up near Dome on Reserve? Asking because I saw in a comment below you mentioned making Raiders spawn near D2 but idk if you meant near the switch area to activate D2 where they normally spawn or near the actual D2 extract?
Really enjoying SPT but so many parts of some maps are just dead, ends up making Dome and the loot from similarly void places feel cheeky cause it's always 100% uncontested lol

When you mention "outside of the normal spawn areas" I'll assume this means "outside in-game spawn zones"
Unfortunately, modders are limited to spawn zones in each map (see below for Reserve). I mentioned D2 since this is in the "ZoneSubCommand" (basement area) and is really the only zone anywhere near D2.
To answer your question - is there a way to do so? The short answer is no. The long answer is - it's possible, but not right now. That would require Unity NavMesh and that's way beyond my programming knowledge, but I wouldn't be surprised if our modding community was already hard at work on it.

For the time being I've just set a rule for myself to balance the "free uncontested loot" areas that I have to cross a hot zone to exfil with it xD

You can use this and this to add spawnpoints. It works both for 3.5 because it only adds spawnpoints to the map.

The biggest problem I have is that some scavs get super bugged after I installed this mod. They get like 5000 RPM fire rate at times. I don't know if it's a problem with this mod or not, but after removing this config / mod, everything works as it should.
Another story:
I was trying to run woods over and over for quests with Better Spawns Plus ONLY and I kept noticing that the raids were super dead. I installed Nooky's config and ran a few more woods and it was still extremely dead for 20 minutes. Not a single shot anywhere, no life in sight. I head towards ZB-014 and 5 rogues had spawned there..
I don't know, I like the idea of this config but this is not ready for release. This needs to be tweaked and tested more.

What other spawn/AI mods are you using? Woods is a notoriously large area map with unfortunately small spawn zones, BSP with these spawns can probably hit 15-20 bots on Woods in 15 mins. but still feel empty. Even in my testing with 30 bots there are pockets of emptiness. I know it’s not the greatest but these are the limitations of that map to be honest.
There’s a reason why spawn location parity is excellent in Streets, for example. It has the best zone parity by far of any map.

The problem with large maps such as woods (especially for quests) is that it's near impossible find bots in the actual woods, so you instinctively head for the hot spots like the camp or the big sawmill. But every time I ran there was just wind whistling.
I don't know if it's possible to manually set out custom spawn points with BetterSpawnsPlus (with a config mod like this one), but one of the biggest problems in SPT is that hot spots aren't hot spots. Dorms on Customs is usually dead, and any POI is empty whenever you go to it.
My hope has always been that there'd be a mod that fixed that or at least congregated spawns or pathing towards POI.

My mod only changes spawn files that BSP has, it has no effect on levels or similar. It's possible that your BSP config. or other mods might be causing issues but I can't say for sure.

I am having a issue where no bosses spawn even with having 100% spawn chance im not sure what the issue is and for some reason unlike when i normally enter the game without the mod the bosses are started off as disabled and idk if that is doing something?

I had this issue too. I just was able to get Shturman to spawn in woods. I also have bosses disabled at the initial setting screen. However, once you click on game setting the bosses are enabled. At this point press "next" then "start". Try it out. Good luck!

Isn´t there something wrong in Factory Night? i have PMC relative level set to 5 my character is lvl 17 but during night in factory i was attacked by level 40 and 48 bears

it feels like i'm barely seeing a difference over default BSP. i did a few woods runs and i barely ran into anyone even going through what should be pretty populated areas. does it matter which preset we use? i've tried both "spawnChangesOnlyPreset" and "preyToLivesPreset" and they didn't seem to change much.

Preset doesn't matter - Woods is a weird map with spawns, in my testing things have been pretty empty/quiet early on regardless of timing adjustments and added spawns. My personal suggestion is play around with the new BSP extension and see if it helps with spawns on Woods: MOAR Config options for BetterSpawnsPlus

Does this work with SPT Realism? That mod is a must have for me. I play with SWAG before and it somehow broke the AI spawn.

The rule of thumb if it’s compatible with BSP then it’s compatible with my spawns.
With that being said, BSP should work with any mods that do not affect spawns.
In Realism’s case, you may have to tweak some bot settings and test. Me personally, I use Realism but I only use the bot loadout progression feature, I’ve never had mod conflicts. Hope this helps!

I use Fontaine's realism mod with this and logs indicate no issues I can see. Just make sure to open SPT Realism config app and under the bot tab uncheck increased bot cap, open zone fix, and spawn tweaks. Good luck.

Bit confused as I installed this, got it working under the SpawnChangesOnly but edited it a little myself turning off Bosses and Raiders etc. I went to Customs and immediately bumped into some crazy sounding American voicelines in the Fortress and they absolutely clapped me. Changing anything to false within mod config would result in default game configuration, so if you wish to play without bosses you need to uncheck boss spawns within the raid settings before launching into a raid, or go into your .json files and change whether or not bosses are allowed to spawn. (i.e. changing boss chance to 0 per boss per map would be a perm fix)

Hello, for God's sake, sorry, again I'm in the habit of installing your mod. Explain in detail what files should I take from your mod folders __MACOSX and custom-spawns-bsp-spt and insert with replacement into the PreyToLive-BetterSpawnsPlus db\locations mod? And then I looked in your mod in the folders __MACOSX and custom-spawns-bsp-spt a bunch of other folders with files and I'm lost what to take, where to put what - that's the problem.

hey, sorry about the confusion - first off, you can ignore any "MACOSX" folders, that's my mistake for including that. the versions 1.2.0+ should leave that crap out.
what you need to do is copy everything in this folder:
custom-spawns-bsp-spt/locatons/
and paste it into your BSP mod folder:
PreyToLive-BetterSpawnsPlus/db/locations/
and overrwrite those files.
or you can copy and paste individual maps if you'd like.

I’ve only personally tested my spawns with “As-Online” amount. I can’t say what affect changing that may have, it could also depend on other mods, so ymmv in that case.

Yes - you are free to change the timings for any spawns, take a look at the included READMEs for more info on how to create/adjust spawns to your liking.
With that being said, both my spawns and BSP defaults are designed for 30-45 min. raids already but there's always room for improvement!

This mod does wonders, one think I noticed is on shoreline sniper scavs almost never spawn, and pretty much same with scavs, I just meet pmcs all raid, last raid I met 1 scav and killed 15 pmcs, also no scavs on the traditional scav spawns

I'm also making some tweaks in the config right now and testing how it works out, probably the high %chance of pmcs spawning in most zones is the cause.
Also Sanitar is just an absolute unit with his guards trying to snipe me from 300+ meters with reflex sights but that's just tarkov being tarkov

I take it that it doesn't matter what the ai amount is set to in game. It will just keep on spawning until the bot cap on that certain map is filled?

3 runs on customs so far, went to the petrol station and dorms in all 3 runs, 11 pmc kills 0 scav kills. Found 0 scavs in 3 runs. Maybe conflict with another mod? I have POOP, BSP and this mod.

It’s likely due to my spawns - do you remember about how long into the raid you extracted? I can space out the PMC spawns a bit more in those zones, they might be killing SCAVs before you get to them. Thanks for the feedback!

in all of the raids I was there for around 10-15 mins I guess, probably closer to 10. I just kinda wish we had an option to rack up the spawns even further. on spt 3.4 I used to get 30-40 kill raids now doesn't matter which mod I use I seem to be stuck at around 15 or so kills in about the same time spent

and changing any exUsec spawn times to -1

Good question - unfortunately no, all of my spawn configs were designed with 60 min. raids maximum, as none of the spawns are configured to spawn after 60 mins.
However... if you're feeling adventurous, you can simply add more spawns to the configs to stretch them out over longer raids, though I've never tested spawns after 60 mins. If you do, let me know, I'd like to know!
