Firearm Deafen 1.1.0

wear your ear pro or pay the price

This just makes it so that firing guns without any ear pro or suppressors make your character's ears ring

bla bla put in BepInEx/plugins

  • Version 1.1.0

    update

  • Version 1.0.9

    recoompile

  • Version 1.0.8

update and recompile, also switched to dynamic type targeting so it should be essentially future-proof now

  • Version 1.0.7

quick bug fix, apparently my IDE was gaslighting me into believing that "InitialSpeed" was still a real field

  • Version 1.0.6

    update to 3.5.0

  • Version 1.0.5

-Fixed an issue where the RAC would not be recognized when searching for ear pro

-Subsonics are now accounted for, any round with a velocity of less than 343m/s will not trigger tinnitus (unless you are in a building), this is also accounted for with bots

    -Cleaned up code a bit

  • Version 1.0.4

    Updated for 3.4.1

(yeah so I wrote the patch for fixing flashbang tinnitus for 3.4.0 not realizing that the checks would end up breaking this mod 💀, thankfully I found a workaround)

  • Version 1.0.3

    update for 3.2.5 client

Updated so that now helmets and helmet components that restrict the ear pro slot will no longer trigger tinnitus, also nerfed grenades so that their contusion effect isn't as painful anymore

  • Version 1.0.2

switched to patching, fixed all performance issues, and made it so also grenades can trigger deafening

  • Version 1.0.1

fixed an issue where the firearm controller would break for some people

also made it so nearby bot gunshots also trigger tinnitus

  • 3.7.1

  • Seems to be a great mod. Gun shoots fine with ear pro on, but when I take ear pro off, the gun becomes silent and also loses recoil. Most likely doing something wrong, but I've gone through and downloaded and tried each update since 3.5.0 (I'm on 3.5.7) and still have no luck. Any suggestions?

  • doesnt seem to work on 3.5.8. just makes the guns soundless

  • Does it work with 3.5.4?

  • Can confirm for anyone wondering, this mod will need to be updated for 351. It currently causes all firearm noises to be dead silent.

    • yeah its what usually happens each update, typically doesn't take long to fix tho

      Thinking 2
  • Will it be possible to implement the ear deafen into the hideout, or is that impossible?

    • impossible with the way I do it because hideout player doesn't have a health controller

  • hi may i ask a stupid question that where exactly i should put the files? like should i create another folder inside the /plugins folder and what should i do with the Lisence thingy? i tried many times and paths but it still wont work (i tried my guns in hideout range, from 5.7 to 40mm grenades, without headsets)

    • license you can just delete its only really there so you know of it's existence and you just put the DLL in plugins

    • thanks now its working and i have found that it only has effect in a raid, but not in hideout

    • yeah cause hideout player doesn't have a health controller

  • I can't believe you updated this mod and not No More Mines Monkam

    • prob won't have to update it tbh

    • It doesn't need to be updated

  • Dont compatible with 3.0.0. Oldest versions too

    • There was never a version for 3.0.0 and I offer no support for any outdated versions

      update your spt dude

    • Nah vibecheck

  • Mod breaks all Scav guns, guns make no noise, no muzzle flash can't ADS, clear jams, inspect, anything to do with Scav guns is broken. Works perfectly fine after I removed it

  • Is your mod compatible for 3.3.0?

    • yeah, its a client mod so it doesn't rely on the server version

      Thumbs Up 1
    • I'm getting no sound from bullets (almost like silencer/sound suppressor is on weapon) with this mod enabled. Weapon bugs out eventually and you can't ADS, clear jams, inspect, etc. Also no tinnitus effect. Everything worked when I removed this mod. I'm on 3.3.0. No other mods but SPT Realism and Amands Graphics. Thanks!

  • The Idea is great, but a tinnitus after every shot is a bit to much. I think is would be much more playable if the sound after a single shot just dampen and tinnitus only appear after a prolonged burst of automatic fire.

  • BSG should hire you this should be base game tbh

    • I'd like to work for them but I ain't moving to St. Petersburg 💀

    • Fair lmao

    • pretty weird considering that programming is THE remote job

but I guess nik needs to keep an eye on you at all times so your code isn't too good

  • would be cool if the ringing was tied to muzzle velocity/chamber pressure. high velocity rounds like 357 magnum and 556 nato should mess up your ears really bad but low velocity rounds like 45 acp and 9x18 should take a few more shots before the ringing starts.

    • no all bullets do ear ouchies

  • Would it be possible to add a slider for volume (to lower it), would like a more casual approach to the ringing from a smoothbrain :)

    • It’s a game thing so I can’t change the volume but I plan to make to so you can disable it if it gets too annoying

    • Ah darn, could you point me int he right direction for the location of the sound file used? Maybe I can try going in and lowering that volume.

    • volume is controlled by the audiosource tied to the player, you could lower the volume of the audioclip but its probably embedded deep in an asset bundle so I'd say its not really worth it

  • Could you please make a setting in game to turn this mod on/off? Some of my modded items have built in slots on the helmet for headphones but this mod doesn't recognize and I get the ear ringing every time.

    • I think I can throw in an extra check for that

      Heart 1
  • Downloaded v1.0.2 and when I fire an unsuppressed weapon there is no sound an 0 recoil.
Firing a suppressed weapon functions like normal with sound and recoil

    • I just tried and everything worked as intended.

    • sounds more like you got missing files m8

    • nvm my bad man one of my friends hit me up and explained the issue to me and I realized I forgot to add a hideout player check so I just dropped a stealth update and it should all be good now

    • Yep, forgot to mention I was testing this in the hideout. Thanks for the update!

  • FPS drop during fire. Freezing on few seconds.

    • yeah ik, plan to rewrite as a patch script to see if it helps but it mostly seems to be due to tarkovs spaghetti code :(((((((((((((

      Thumbs Up 1 Crying 1
    • fixed

    • Verified on 1.02. Thank you!

  • fuck it I'm gonna rewrite this as a patch tomorrow cause clearly doing this controller style ain't cutting it with tarkovs spaghetti code

  • No idea why, but firing automatics without earpro with this installed causes HORRID fps drop until i stop shooting.

    • its an issue with the bot scripting, I'm gonna pull it till I can figure out whats causing it

    • actually nvm found the issue will update quick

    • fixed

  • For some reason your mod just disabled recoil and gun shots lmao. I loaded in without ear muffs and thought I was tripping since my gun wasn't moving when I shot, until I saw the bullet holes appearing.

It's a shame it doesn't work for me, I really enjoy this light touches of realism too

    • yeah I've heard of that issue, think it might have been caused by me referencing an older assembly

      should be fixed soon tho

      Thumbs Up 1
    • Can confirm, same thing happened to me

    • yeah im peeking into solutions but I won't be able to test it until later today cause school pepescream

but it should be a pretty simple fix

also I'm trying to implement a mechanic where if bots shoot near you and you don't have earpro or they don't have supp that it'll also ring your ears

    • No problem, take your time

Just giving you feedback is all

      Good luck at school

      :stalingotogulag:

  • This is awesome! Now we need cheap earplug items in game that protect your ears from ringing, but they slightly deafen you similar to how it'd be with a helmet with deafen set to "high" on it.
