Featured Borkel's Realistic Night Vision Goggles (NVGs and T-7) 1.5.8 (experimental)

Now with new realistic NVG masks and natural light outside the tubes. I looked at real life NVGs and I tried to imitate them ingame. Customizable ingame (colors and everything).

    Improved the masks for the GPNVG-18 and the T-7.


    For the GPNVG-18 I've horizontally flipped the lense shadows so that they appear on the outer lenses and not the inner ones. This makes more sense, since the outer lenses are the ones that are angled (new is top, old is bottom):

    The T-7 is viewed through a digital display, not a lense like with NVGs, so I've made it look more like a display by cutting its vertical FOV (like the FLIR). The old mask is still available in the optional masks folders. This is how it looks now:

    • It won't be necessary in 3.9.0, as NVG Original Color will already be off by default

  • Hello! Im getting a doge Box when using this mod on the NVGs, they disappeared when i unstalled it. Is there a known incompatibility with any mods?

    • Well, no clue really. Wrong installation maybe. Maybe even an incompatibility.

  • Could you please explain how to modify the mask size for the NVG and T7, remove the noise, and eliminate the pixelation and 60Hz effect for the T7? Thank you!

    • I feel like I asked some silly questions; what I actually want to know is how to turn off motion blur.

    • For now, you'd have to modify the source code of the mod.

  • doesn't seem to have the nvg changes for ATLAS equipment quad nods, but it does give the correct overlay.

  • i seem to encounter a issue while im using quad nods. When ever i take painkillers the corner of the quad's turn's green any idea for me to fix itby any chance?

    • That happens without quad nods too, it has nothing to do with my mod.

    • Did... God I can't believe I'm about to suggest this... Did BSG add a green tint to the PK when you're wearing NODs because the black and white became distracting in the all-green screen of the base game?

    Any clarification on what issue this causes? I never knew this and as such have had it on forever and not noticed issues (not saying they don't exist). Does it seem to break something with FIKA or anything?

    • There's a report of it causing a crash with FIKA.

      It's not an issue if you don't use FIKA.

  • New to this mod, Maybe I am dumb or something but, How / Can you change what color your nvgs can be? (Ex. white color, Like you showed in the pictures) I tried using the "gain" keybind but it did not change the nvg color, do I have to manually change each nvg color to make it how I want ?


    Again sorry for the dumb question I just really do not get how to change the color.


    2. What does gain exactly do? (I Lowered it and upped it to the max but I saw no change whatsoever, does it like make it easier to see in dimly lit areas?)

    • You have to change the Red, Green and Blue values of the corresponding NVG.

      Gain increases the light amplification.

    • no, i can't find it in the game ;(

    • it's the normal one, it just replaces its texture. Don't be fooled by the ingame item miniature preview, double click on it and you'll see its black 3d model.

  • Is it intentional that only the night vision goggles allow seeing out the sides? I tried on the T-7 and it was completely black and didn't allow it, it seems. I don't use the Amand Graphics mod, either. Maybe I made a mistake? ?(

    • It is like that. Not exactly intentional, but it is like that.

    • Is there any mods that do allow optics to work with thermal goggles? Having trouble finding one. ty :)

    • My son is into working with meshes and textures etc. - so I'm pushing him to unpack the assets involved and change the properties of all glass and all weapon optics to be transparent to thermals (at least maybe a couple of types of Optics anyway). There was an optics mod that included one type that could be used with thermals but i think it's fallen by the wayside.

    Hello there mate, I attached a screenshot. Is that intentional, or a bug? It appears that the screen turn to green phosphorus whenever you're on Golden Star, or any other pain med while using NVG's.

    • Not intentional but I would not say it's a bug, meds apply effects to the screen so I assume this would happen even without my mod.

    • Yes indeed. If you use vanilla NVG's, your borders become white instead of green. Both are rather inconvenient. I guess get good and don't get hit right. Cheers mate.

  • Any chance you might add the ability to replace the tubes in the individual NVGs in-game? For example buying NVG housing and the tubes seperately, having Gen 2+ more affordable than Gen 3 tubes etc. Maybe even the addition of more NVG models?

  • I was wondering, could you add colored/RGB nightvision as a setting? I've seen videos of it, you can still see color but of couse its dim/dull, would be nice to have for stuff like the gpnvg for people who are blind to scavs like me

    • That's a thing of digital night vision, not the type of night vision we have ingame

    • it's lighthouse, it could be your RAM running out of space. Do let me know if you manage to find a way to reproduce it.

    • I have 32gb.

      Some users also say that they overclock 32gb RAM but crashes occur.


      Does it conflict with realism? I prioritized NVG mode over Realism, but it still crashes..

    • I crash on all maps when I load your NVG mod, regardless of whether I have the NVG equipped.


      RAM usage was not high

      It's definitely not a RAM issue

    • Does it still happen when you remove my mod? Have you tried with just my mod installed? What other mods do you have?


      Test that, and we'll know for sure.
