What is Single Player Overhaul?
It’s a compilation of mods with modified configs/files used to create an actual single-player experience based on the Tarkov Game.
If you are asking why Single Player Overhaul (SPO) exists…
BSG managed to strike a very fun and challenging balance in the Tarkov gameplay loop and its economy based on players' interactions whenever they are competing in PvP or in item economy outside raids. SPT removes the stress of bumping into teams, extracting campers, or try-hards playing 12h a day when some can only play a few hours a week.
Because Tarkov allows for such a vast way of progressing and gaining an advantage over more casual/newer players, the gameplay loop is riddled with many gates slowing down or hindering progress to at least give that feeling of fairness between players.
In SPT we don't have competition nor we don't need to be slowed down to keep a level playing field, so we don't need many of those mechanics or gates preventing our progression.
But “limiters” are not the only issue. Because the trader economy and flea market are designed around thousands of players in circulation buying out stock, here we have very easy access to all the things we WANT! For me, that is a huge flaw, since I'm a firm believer in saying “no good thing comes without hard work!”
That’s why, I derp without ANY coding experience decided to make this Single-player experience for myself and other like-minded people by using existing mods and tinkering around their configs and proper load order, and with BIG help from REV, TRAP, and ALEX I present you this!
- Removed most of pesky limitations BSG imposed on players for multiplayer balance
- Raid time limit

- Extremely long crafting/construction times
- Key usage limit (only marked keys and lab access cards have limits)
- Skill Fatigue
- Extreme weight values
- Run through (only happens if you back peddle within 15 sec)
- Rebalanced Heath values
- Rebalanced Meds.
- Extended raid - no more rushing through the stage!
- Scav Runs time, Karma gains, and loudouts rebalanced.
- Dehydration and starvation are slower and food and drinks are rebalanced while regeneration is disabled to create a feeling of the actual need for survival.
- No more META guns! Ergo values are rebalanced for more freedom!
- New ways to mod guns!
- Visor and chin protection items protect ears too (clunky fix for the issue of being killed with “earshot” from them front since ear hitbox extends to “front and sides”)
- Streamlined quest (USEC/BEAR = ANY)
- Items required for Hideout tagged.
- Ammo color with color-coded background and stats in the description.
- Item value in the item description.
- One-Shot Protection
- Time-based economy reworked
- Map availability is dependent on an extract taken (all extracts are open!)
- Trader, stash availability based on the last extract location!

The existing Profile MIGHT work, but I strongly recommend creating a new one, and will not provide support for per-SPO profiles.
Installation process:
- Read the Version update just in case!
- Highly advise fresh SPT install, it's not required, but starting from clean SPT will be less likely to break anything.
- Create folder patch:
"user\mods\.SPO\mods" - Download mods:
- Ereshkigal-AkiConfigurator
- Ereshkigal-CoreMod
SPT Realism Mod (read pinned comment)
- Extract them into:
"user\mods\.SPO\mods" - Download Faster Hip Draw
- Extract into:
"SPT 2.3.1\BepInEx\plugins"
- Download Valens Has The Power
Extract into:
"SPT 2.3.1\"
Launch the game once.
- Download SPO modpack and extract it into your SPT folder and overwrite everything.
- Navigate to:
"SPT 2.3.1\SPT realism instructions" - Continue installation with the use of Instructions .txt
- Create a new Single Player Overhaul profile
Updating:
- Read carefully the Version update!
- If there are no instructions listed, just overwrite the existing installation.
Updating TrapModLoader :
TML will be included in SPO but if for some reason update will be necessary than
- Dowload TML, and extract 4 files inside "TrapModLoader-X.X.X.zip\TrapModLoader\" into "SPT\user\mods\SPO"
Adding new mods:
I will not provide support for modifying existing mods, configs, or added mods to SPO
- Extract mod into "E:\Tarkov Original SPT\user\mods\SPO\mods"
- Open "loadorder.json" within "E:\Tarkov Original SPT\user\mods\SPO\mods"
- Copy add mod folder name and paste it into the list.
Protagonist Syndrome
In Live - it does not exist. Everybody is equal at the beginning.
In 99% of Single Player Games We are special, the chosen one, tougher than the whole surrounding world. For the most part, we don't like it, but the feeling of being one-shotted by a stray bullet is not very appealing either, so to make it slightly less frustrating player has slightly boosted health values and comes equipped with an OSP armband (One-Shot Protection) that will protect your head from being downed too quickly! But be mindful when you use it! Repairing is not cheap, and replacing a new one is even more expensive!
//modified Holtzman Shield is used as OSP, and sadly aside from manually modifying profile body parts within profile.json I don't know how to force those changes. Yet.
TIME
Live time is one of the key elements of gating progression. From Raid Extraction Timers preventing overstaying and gathering remaining loot, skill fatigue that promotes short and frequent raids to keep lobbies refresh faster, trader restocks timers to let people queue for their favorite limited stock gear and hideout building/crafting timers, slowing down progress and access to rare items.
For that reason, we don't have a need for limited raids timers, skill fatigue, or 3 days of wait for hideout construction. That is why most timers are reworked to be less tedious or balanced around our playthrough!
//Ideally we would make those timers more ONLY while in the raid and then rebalance those timers to adequate numbers. Sadly we don't even know if it's possible.
BASIC NEEDS
Tarkov in its base is an amazing survival game, drinking 4 liters of water to not die of thirst in 60 min is slightly immersion breaking 😅 For that player hydration and energy drain have to be modified, Food and drink loot are limited and passive bonuses coming from Hideout reworked to be useful in our experience.
//Sadly we have not found a way to change any of those through the use of a mod loader. For now, we are trying to find a good balance by modifying game files and later will figure out how to introduce them as a mod.
BARTER
Trader barter offers have been adjusted to be a lot more valuable and easier to obtain since we don't need to worry about player competition in raids or buying out stock.
9.0 Update Ammo and optic mods are now locked behind barters. Encouraging more scavenging.
With upcoming updates, more and more items will be moving towards barter trades very soon, introducing "rotation stock" for all traders!
//Soon we will rebalance traders so, most high caliber weapons will be available only through barter, including rare ammo as soon as we figure out how to pack them in boxes 😅
QUESTS
FIR feature was introduced to balance out cheaters and easy access to ALL items through flea market - ideally, we would remove FIR tags from quests, but for now, all items bought will have FIR added, since there is no logical reason to keep that limitation for our game.
FLEA MARKET
Live has a whole crazy economy around finding and selling those HOT items allowing us to earn millions of RUB, but since we are cut from the player base, we don't compete for stock.
FIR tag is added to bought items, LIVE prices are disabled, but the availability of items at flea is severely limited and prices gauged up, so if you will find things you want on flea you will ask yourself that maybe you can hop into raid instead. Oh, and you can use Flea from level 5 now.
LOOT
Since we play alone and suddenly we have a need for finding items ourselves and can’t rely on the flea as you would normally, loot Is a LOT more generous, especially that found on PMCs!
//In the future we want to add item boxes to that very rare spawn in raids like they were a long time ago.
INVENTORY
And because there is so much loot to gather and keep, all inventories have been rebalanced, backpacks that have visible pockets/compartments DO have them included, boxes are bigger and easier to obtain and the overall weight of items is decreased by 25% making it easier to run around with all that loot, but not too easy so you can't train Strength!
//Because we were not able to figure out how to force the spawning of new columns down, some backpacks grids will be clipped, requiring you to “R-clickl>open” them to see the full content.
SCAV RUNS
Since loot is a lot more common, no one competes for it with us, SCAV runs are pretty much a money grab. With the economy more catered towards looting and crafting, Scav runs are rarer and to compensate for that Extracts and PMC revenge kills generate more loyalty for Fence which now offer is more interesting with limited Flea!
//Currently there is a bug present that allows you to buy an infinite stock hoping to use FIN'S UNLOCKABLE PURCHASES as inspiration and add raising for each purchase to hold you down from abusing his stock
Additionally, there is an idea to increase/decrease his stock depending on your reputation.
SECURE CONTAINERS
In Live those are mostly used as means of additional monetization for BSG and they are pretty much outside of the progression loop - means for gaining a tiny advantage over others.
We created an actual progression you can work on for your S.Containers!

TEMPORARY STASHES / HIDEOUT
At first, we wanted to limit locations to player level, but Trap gave us Path To Tarkov which is an amazing mod working perfectly for our needs! Now you will be able to embark on maps adjusted to your previous extraction giving us a feeling of travel!
Trader and STASH availability tied to your position, which creates a truly unique experience!
Multiple stashes you need to maintain and keep track of construction materials delivery make a real difference!
Now you have multiple stashes! Your Hideout is located in the old bunker that's why all ZB, Factory Gate 3, Med Tent, and Cellers will lead to your Main Stash and will unlock Hideout, but as soon as you will leave your bunker and use extracts leading away from it, you will be greeted with one of many temporary stashes, you will have to maintain! Stock ammo, meds, and item containers delivered in your backpack so your farming of those locations will be more efficient!
The same goes for quest deliveries! Enjoy your extended progression, plan your trips accordingly watch your back!
To complement changes to containers we added a few convenient items that will help you keep your meds and ammo safe including 2 cargo pants pockets
- Gear Box that holds backpacks and rigs sold by Ragman
- Small Keychain and Small Dogtag Case to ease early game with Wasit Pouch sold by Therapist
- Travel Tool Box to help you move barter, craft, and construction items between stashes sold by Mechanic.
New trader! For those who lost their way, seek keys, or are far away from Traders here is Lizard! Scavenger, always available, but with stock... leaving lots to desire.

- After closing the game, you MIGHT have to restart the server if you want to reconnect to it.
- Some hideout features cannot be disabled without crashing the game (generator, water collector, and air filtering unit)
- Two stocks can spawn onto the gun creating a "monster gun" with 1 recoil and ergonomic.
- Very rarely you can spawn on the map with no EXFILs available. Just Alt+F4, that will save your gear, and extract again. (it happened to me twice within the whole SPO project testing)
- [ERROR] [OOB] for item with id xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx; Error message: TypeError: Cannot read property 'X' of undefined - means you have an item that doesn't currently exist or have property no longer available like folding of stock. copy ID from error - ctrl+f inside your profile.json and check item id "_tpl" adjoined to said ID and sell/discard/dismantle said item.
